Carlton Football Club statement

...

“It’s disappointing it has come to light that both players were out in the early hours of Sunday morning – had they not put themselves in that position then this incident could have been avoided,” McKay said.

“It should serve as a warning to all our players that they need to take responsibility for their behaviour and the situations they put themselves in. As professional athletes we expect them to lead by example.”

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated at our football club.”

What gets me is that the club is responsible too. "It’s disappointing it has come to light..." - in other words "We tried to cover up Robbo's role in this and obviously went public only because we were going to be found out".

It doesn't send a good message of transparency. I am filthy on the players but the club has been no better. They flogged Jeffy in the press earlier this week (rightfully so) and left Mitch out. Why? Because it wasn't public knowledge so they hoped that they could suppress it. Amateurs.

What was that.

A suspended player suffers a fractured eye socket on the same night one of his best mates is assaulted on his birthday and the club is not suspicious that the two are related???

So it is the clubs fault they both lied?
Actually I would blame mm before I blame the club..

It's very hard to believe that the Club didn't know.

Surely that can't be true.
How would they not notice?

He clearly lied about how the injury occurred.

Apparently Robbo told the club that he got the injury late in the game against the Dockers.

Things got a little confused down at the footy department (it's sometimes hard to know what's going on with all those players and coaches and administrators and shit) and McKay's been hassling Hendo all week about what he was doing out with Jeff on Sunday morning.

All sorted now.

Nothing to see here.

The stupidity of this guy is staggering.
Puts contract talks on hold til end if season to get a better deal.
Then gets suspended for the 3rd time this season.
Then while suspended goes out late and gets injured in a fight.
Sick of this guy letting down his teammates and the Club with his ill discipline.
Trade time me thinks.

The thing that staggers me is that based on the available information it sounds like there'll be a court case coming up as the guys who hit them got picked up and Robbo with all his genius thought he could pretend that nothing happened and he wasn't there.

How dumb would you have to be to keep that up for three or four days without realizing you were really, really dumb?
