Will tell you as will I that the BUZ took a better mark than the one against Geelong the same year in a practise game at Glenferrie Oval!

Good pick up SHHH!!

I like it.

I believe The Age took a photo of that mark. I would still give it to the geelong mark, though... but i know where you are coming from.

I have had a poster (an old Courage Draught one from a mate of my dad's who owned the local bottle shop) of Jezza's GF mark on my wall for the past 35 years - first on my bedroom wall & now in my study (can't understand the wife's not wanting it on our bedroom wall :-D ).

I recently re-watched the vid of the 1970 GF and that sensational mark was the turning point of sending the Filth into the ultimate football misery - and all of us into hysterical joy.

It was just fantastic and I have to agree with DB Jezza's balance was just freakish but he took an even better mark in a state game against WA.

As a kid I adored the Buzz, largely due to that mark.

DB,

Nick Cave, Jezza and Beer....

that's as good a holy trinity as you can get...

I'd be more than happy to share a beer or three, we can talk about the 8 premierships we have seen and risking our lives at the Ballroom :-D

Any mark from the 1970 or 1972 Grand Final has to be a favourite. Is the legend true that Swan took the mark with a broken jaw :?:

If they flew for a mark today like Swan and Southby did instead of spoiling they'd be dragged. :)

Thank God for Godisnavyblue.Right on brother.Unquestionally the one.I was there and it was right in front of me.Exhilarating stuff ! Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
For all you younger folk get a couple of things straight.
Big John Nicholls was the greatest Carlton player of all.
And Jezza was the best.
And everyone else is equal after those two.

He hasn't actually marked that one Juzz.

Scott Spalding on debut, marking horizontal to the ground, fully outstretched. Inspiring. Funny though, he never played again.

Seriously, I am 31 and was way to young to appreciate Buzz' mark. It seemed like everyone was taking screamers back then. I was a bit older and wiser when appreciating SOS' back in '88.

In the modern era, Kouta, Hamill, Lappin have taken some rippers.

Have to agree DB!

On a consistency basis Swan was the best of the Blues.Always remember one at Kardinia where he landed on his head.

Great mark,pity about the headache!

As for all-time greats, cannot go past Jessa. The moment,120k people and just to the right of me...

Also remember one he took at VFL Park versus WA,an absolute hanger...

Mention also for Brent Crosswell, cannot remember the game, but once adorned the walls of the Social Club(stairs?)

Maybe not the "best" mark ever but I'll always remember Callan Beasy in his first game for us in round 16, 2002 against St. Kilda at the Telstra Dome, took one of the best one handed marks you'll see. Can't remember all the exact circumstances surrounding it but he just seemed to leap and pluck it out of the air. Does anyone else remember this? I guess I'll remember Callan's time at Carlton for this mark!

That was a ripper, and if IRC it wasn't even nominated as a mark of the week.

Yeah you're right, I remember seeing it and thinking "that'll be up there with the marks of the year" but nothing was really made of it at all?! I'd love to see it again because I was absolutely convinced at the time and still am that that was one of the best marks I've seen!
