Carlton, soon to be released from an unpopular 10-year venue contract, appears to have pulled off its wish of playing more games at the MCG – and fewer at Etihad Stadium – from next season.

While the Blues are set to post a financial loss after a disappointing 2014, the club has also managed to clear the debt it has owed the AFL since 2003 when it was on its knees and received a $1.5 million loan.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was knocked on the head.

24 hrs flying each way and the disruption to routine for, what is, a pretty short time in the US and training at altitude might not be a beneficial as they'd hoped.

Training at altitude works...but not for that short a time. It's a bonding trip...always has been...and on occasion an ASADA staff members junket.

We currently have 6 Etihad, 5 MCG. Massive change.

Well I was told channel 7 making it very hard to move games away from Etihad. I'm hearing one or two extra at the G. But nice fluff piece by Samantha Lame is trying to make out as if we've had a victory.

That's the worse case scenario...effectively homeless. Might as well make more $$ from an Etihad deal.

Money on table Synners
Put your money where your mouth is
Gws will be playing to sell out stadiums as soon as they are a GF contender
We will see what a total lack of knowledge there is in Synners bubble

I am reviving this thread:

2001 Brisbane - Gabba
2002 Brisbane - Gabba
2003 Brisbane - Gabba
2004 Port Adelaide - AAMI
2005 Sydney - SCG
2006 West Coast - Subiaco
2007 Geelong - Skilled
2008 Hawthorn - MCG
2009 Geelong - Skilled
2010 Collingwood - MCG
2011 Geelong - Skilled
2012 Sydney (SCG)
2013 Hawthorn (MCG)
2014 Hawthorn (MCG)

Apart from the exceptional first year of 2000 (read the thread), having a home ground at Etihad will not generate a Premiership.

We are now 6 MCG 5 Etihad...

I wonder whether the recent shift to MCG is enough for Premiership success for Carlton...
