Didn't think it was that bad.

I think people want their cake and eat it too when it comes to Presidents.

Ex pollies, lawyers and media types are always going to be better in front of the camera or mike.

He'd be better off ignoring the media training and just be himself, speak his mind and see what happens.

We'd also get a better idea of exactly who MLG is and how he operates.

Ali Clarke doesn't know Carlton very well.

Was told last night Ian Prendergast was one of the final 3. Was surprised he got that far as he thought he blew the interview. Rates himself a chance to take Gillon's old job.

Not sure if I'm right or not, but, to me, there's so much worry in those words.

Oh well, the positive is that it gives TC members something to talk about for the coming years.

No sticks, no ratts, No Wayne Hughes, No Swan.

Trigg comes in as a head line act for a long time with only Malthouse left to go.

We are in a much better position now hey :)

Given where we are as a club, it is vital to have AFL endorsement.

That's absolute bullshit. Why do you need AFL endorsement? Like the AFL do a @#$%&! great job!
Another @#$%&! stupid appointment. A suck hole who has one objective here - getting a job at AFL House.

mmm, very balanced.

Perhaps you've overlooked that the AFL do the fixturing of games!

Any chance we have of moving to the MCG needs to be AFL endorsed.

Any chance of getting fair amount of interstate travel needs AFL acquiescence.

Any chance of getting reasonable TV exposure needs AFL endorsement.

Gentle push back against AFL can only happen when the AFL "like" you, try pushing back against AFL when you are out of favour.

Carlton no longer have influence simply based on power or prestige, we need to be "in" with the AFL to gently shift our standing.

Trigg gives us hand in this argument.

MLG knows all of this. It simply can't be said on shows like 360.

This response tells me why we, as a club have been consigned to irrelevance.

There is absolutely nothing special about an AFL CEO role. These wankers at the AFL like to make it sound like its a job only an insider can do but that is crap.

Can you imagine Eddy being told which CEO he can or can't put on at Collingwood. Good luck with that.

Do you think Paul Little will bother with getting the rubber stamp on thier new CEO when that eventually goes to Xavier?

Trigg is a quality appointment based on what? Swann was a quality appointment as well if I recall.

Give me a list of all these top flight AFL wankers who ever go on an run a successful business outside of the closed shop AFL industry. Few and far between.

It was more of an observation than anything, I heard MLG on the radio last Friday before the game on 3AW also talking to Caro and the likes and he got stuck on a question there as well and then I saw that response on 360 last night and you think maybe he is not ready for the media just yet because they will pounce at any opportunity. I want MLG and Trigg to succeed more than the next person, we as a club can't keep making wrong decisions.

Probably have my rose-coloured glasses on (pun intended) but I reckon the best club CEO of the past 15 years has been Campbell Rose. What he achieved off the field in terms of sponsorship revenue, govt funding for our training facility (he was the first CEO to approach govts and then finalise such a major deal), and the formal association with Victoria Uni to derive as much sports science expertise as any other club but at the fraction of the cost was remarkable. And he wouldn't have know a ruckman from a goal post when he started.

Change of pace..

Pretty sure Caro article today alluded to the fact that Trigg played at CFC for a fleeting moment back in the early 80's?

I think he either played for us or was "targeted" by us. Can anyone help?

Have to give you a big tick on that one Sedat, and every other Melbourne club went to the govt as well to stick there snouts in the trough as well.

He did a pretty good job of organising the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games as well if I recall.

Agree Sedat and was the very person or type of person that we needed - but alas took safe/simple option rather than thinking outside the square
been the hallmark of our club for a while and why we are now an also ran club

subjudice hasn't got a long shelf life if he wants to take simple/safe option - doesn't he read the mood of the supporter base it wants change difference and thinking outside the square - it does not want a continuation of mediocrity and myopic thinking
great with the program SUB
