????????

Mick was on pre game Saturday night to discuss Robbo's 'Mick should retire' article. Ling who spoke as if he agreed with Robbo, asked Mick 'why are you coaching if you hate the game?'. Mick said to him something along the lines of 'I don't remember you being @ the Peter Mac breakfast' - in other words you're taking my comments out of context & are wrong.

Does anyone even know what question mick was responding to when he said 'if I wasn't coaching I'd hate the game'?

And considering he said if he wasn't coaching he'd hate the game, given he is coaching - that's obviously not the case.

Ah!

Cheers.

Yes, I don't understand the hullabaloo over it either. I've heard all and sundry complain about the game non-stop since 2006.

How are MM's comments any worse than anyone elses?

Apparently it's a bad look for the game having a coach criticise the game.

However, personally I think Brad Scott's actions were a far worse look.

Can you imagine if Mick did that? Or if Mick did what Buckley did to Witts last week? He'd be lynch mobbed.

Mick will never admit a mistake or a weakness in public - he is Old School Tigers...

The best you will get is a swipe at the game - HE doesn't recognise the game anymore

He is telling us that the game has gone past him, no fresh ideas or energy.

(the Pies knew that in 2011 as the reigning premiers climbed into the GF, had the cats on the ropes in that 2nd quarter but faded after that. Lots of credit to the Cats leadership group and their level of self belief. But Mick made three huge errors from the Box that day, that contributed to that loss. Two were inactions and the other was a substitution error at a critical time. We all have to finish sometime, but its the Blues that are paying for this superannuation and pension pay out. And its not just the money - we can cover that. Its the regression in the list and pedalling backwards of the young players that kills you most. I am a big fan of Micks as a coach - very much a players coach. He shows faith in his players when beaten and is prepared to risk the outcome of the game, for longer term benefits to the players. I am certain Mick was shocked to see how thin and fragile the leadership group was when he first arrived. Looks like he made a conscious decision to embrace the players with a gentle gradual approach rather than hammer them. How do you get a half forward line to play like macLure, dominator, clape, dominator? How do you get a defense to show desperation like a SOS or a Dean? A midfield that executes like diesel? Should have slammed them right between the eyes - lay the law down - no commitment, no work rate - NO GAME. In fact I would have NOT selected a captain for the start of the year - anybody can toss the coin and talk to the media - what a waste of a decade of team talent)

If our list is so bad why was Ratten sacked because he had them playing a lot better than they are now.
All the experts say Mick cant work with list because its woeful
Rattens must of been one hell of a coach to get them into the finals they way he did

One hell of a coach alright. The suitors knocking on his door to procure his services has reached stampede proportions.
At least he won 5 in a row as the stand in Hawks coach...oops, he wasn't asked to take over was he?

When people say they don't like where they work they are generally only there for the money.

All other motivating factors come a distant second.

It was a sickening, childish comment from the spoilt brat of the coaching fraternity.

People change their minds all the time

look at Mick - he thought we were top 4, 12 months later he thinks we should rebuild

takes on a multi million dollar senior coaching role at the Blues, 18 months later he doenst recognise the game and doesnt really like the game if he wasnt coaching.

People change their minds all the dane

Yeah, I'm sure we were fighting the suitors at Micks door as well.

If we had have drafted well we would not be in this position. This is the year we had to have. We need some young talent to play with Henderson, Gibbs, Murphy, Yarran and Menzel. Our core group are past it. These guys will be lonely if we don't get our selections right.

We need to bottom out and it is the year we had to have due to POOR recruiting. :donk:

Guys,

sorry to say,

but I have this funny feeling that....

Ratten is NEVER Coming back ... !

I know, I know, hard to accept.

But if you say it out loud, just form the words with your mouth ... it might make it feel more real :

"Ratts
has
gone"

It will get easier.
I promise.

I'm not sure Lingy could ever be a senior coach, I mean who would want to be an assistant to him? You'd officially be an underling.
