freedom of choice for you is bondage of slavery upon others
freedom of choice means u have a holiday and u can do whatever you want without others having to be your slaves.

im not sure how people in this day and age expect to take holidays for a religious holiday... because it is a religious holiday.. which can be enjoyed by non religious types and at the same time with extreme hypocricy and self emtitlement expect others to come out and dance for their entertainment.. on a day where corporations havent corrupted with their greedy little hands

take anzac day for instance
we get a game.. this game is a tribute to the diggers that fought in war for us
because of course in this country we cant eat and scratch our arses without footy... (some of us) example camelboy and kk).. and we have one team injecting itself with TB4 to salute the diggers on a footy field...

ok.. i see where u two are coming from.....

but im not sure where youre going...

just an erosion of society and family values.... for some short cut greed

Biggest non-thread ever.

If society wants a day where we're all sitting around not focussing on mammon then I'm okay with that. If we're serious about spending real time with our families all on the one day then terrific, let's have one, but attaching it to a specific religion is exclusive and divisive and essentially dumb.

Next we'll be banning football during Ramadan and Passover.

I'm an atheist.

I'm more than happy for people to get excited by the Teletubbies at the bottom of their personal gardens (as deluded as I think they are) and I have a large amount of sympathy for those who feel that the commercial world of late capitalism is infringing on their social comfort zones but the idea that we should build a fence around a specifically Christian public holiday in a country that should be proud of its multicultural credentials is essentially crap.

lets face it not everybodys grandfather went to war
most of our population is here since the great war.....

nothing to do with pro war or pro christianity

change the name of easter holidays.... to "kaptain Koutas entertain me day... cos i dont know what to do with myself .. and i certainly dont want this day to be a day with christian genesis holiday... and include camelboy somewhere "

and for a non thread u keep posting in it GWS ;)

like i keep saying.. i keep my orthodox good friday and they mostly dont coincide....
so no biggie for me...

but i dont want crappy grubby corporate stuff on one day a year ...just for your sakes and the sakes of your kids.....
if you dont give a crapola about them i do.... :)

If it gets the tv viewers and enough people turn up then it will be here for good. If the players don't want to entertain then they don't have to. No one is forcing them to play work. If you religos want to have your holy day then you can have it.

that has nothing to do with nth korea

and if they keep promoting it and promoting it.. the sheep follow

ysterday the age had a story on alavi in the front page of the paper about how he and asada might never know what is in the needle

the herald sun had another story .. oh yeah.. the woman in frankston and bullying.

but inside the paper hidden away was another article.

abbott has secret meetings about deregulating our banks.

now i wonder which story the sheepies have no clue about knowing anything about or caring....

thats your media at work ... thats corporations in our country today... and that sums us up as a people
i bet most people dont have a clue what that means.....which is why we dont get told about something is huge as that....

but do you have a clue what deregulating the banks means?

Really Synbad?

You want to put playing football on Good Friday on the same level as Abbott being a slave to corporate interests?

Abbott is also hoping to
Relax gun ownership
Relax tobacco laws
Smash the IR system
Dereg the media ownership laws etc etc

Curiously he's also a lap dog of Cardinal Pell and his agenda as well as other Christian lobby groups .

The corporations aren't the only lobby group. This weeks re-classification of "occupied territories" is probably the strongest example of how all govt bend to their backers but also their idols.

AFL on Good Friday is a response from one competitor to another competitor (NRL) in a competitive market .

Don't make it more than it is.

For a sport you dislike so much you sure do pay a lot of attention to it.

It's like a train smash this thread - hard to look away.

Do you know the difference between data sovereignty and privacy act? Outside of the end of the big 4 with international banks coming into region, how our information is handled is what's important.

why???

we have some of the most sound banks in the world because theyre still well regulated.. why change that?

cimm... actually the point is how people are so bored with their own lives unless they have personal slaves doing somersaults for them....
but they wouldnt have a clue about their own govt trying to make private deals without the media REALLY reporting on it.. only gets a small mention because its a leak on the web... and the media can always say ..." we reported it "

its basically underlying the dumbing down of the average person who doesnt have a clue about anything thats going on ... and how their world is slipping away from them and moving away and into the lap of global corporations

its the slow boiling frog.....

Abbott's bank meeting has been reported widely.

Even I've heard about it.

I was responding to you saying it had a small mention deep in the paper.
