If Lappin is so concerned about his 3rd year security etc, why would he take a calculated risk and play the International Series whilst out of contract?

It may have more meaning now, but surely if he was too get a long term injury he would :

a/ not be contracted by anyone else

b/ not renewed by Carlton.

To answer your question, I guess that every player on that team is taking a calculated risk, using your analogy. I'm not sure if it is that much of a deal, really.

Although, as you stated, the consequences for Skinny could perhaps be harsher than any of the other players.

Contracted till Oct 31....therefore no risk..... and if he did get injured I think you can't delist him ...but not sure what you would have to pay, probably minimum?....but that's stil minimum and a place on the list which is why palyers are sometimes convinced to "retire and still have a role around the club"
