Slowly building a side. Going to need another key position player soon given Waite's age but we're putting the bits together. We made Rowe a backman, maybe we can make Watson a forward one day. Not sure but nice if we could.

We're playing with a bit more commitment. The only thing I want to see though is to stop the little lapses we have. Once again we had a lead only to let the opposition kick a quick string of goals and undo the hard work. On the other side though we re-grouped, fought back and won.

Always interesting barracking for Carlton. Never safe when 5 goals in front, never out of it when 5 goals down. Capable of the absolute brilliant and absolute bad.

there's no idoltry imo here Synners.

Murph was rightfully getting called out after our first 4 rounds of footy. His last 5 games has been his best 5 games at cfc, imo, when you consider he seems to be learning and coping playing under a heavy tag.

fwiw, I'm a big fan of daisy and have defended him too.

I agree this board needs a little more 2-way perspective with players. Unless of course it's watson or lucas. My daughter should get a game before either of them, and she's 8.

We're all in this together, so are the players. Daisy thriving and going back to a top 5 or 6 player in the league, only benefits murphy and everyone else at Carlton. We should want nothing more than that.

Really pleased with the result and how we went about it. Some ugly scrappy football at times but when the crows really challenged us in patches, we responded well by sticking to the game plan and lifting the intensity to match them. You can't ask for more than that. No one stand out player for mine, but a good team effort to get the job done. This to me is a really important time for us. Starting to string a few together with limited options yet getting the job done. No Judd, Kreuzer, Curnow and so on, so we can't win until we get a few of these guys back - wrong! So I see this as a very good team win and an important time for the team. We will take a lot from these types of wins. I thought our pressure on Adelaide was fantastic, we really went in hard and by games end there were a lot of very spent footballers on the field for both sides. So the passion is there and the intensity, even if its not polished and poised football. I'll take an ugly scrappy win any day of the week. Good signs and brings some hope that the second half of the season really could go our way and not be a total loss after all.

to me hes getting better and better.. and alot of it is in his head now
that game went a long way to improving his output to this team... and if daisy is back to his best murph will become a better player and gibbs will become a better player and judd will have less expectation and it snowballs...
but geeeez doesnt he get alot of crap because hes rusty by some blind people in here?
though the cobwebs are getting blown off and thats going to make us a much better football team... for a bunch of reasons...
hes super creative
hes a hard worker and gets stuck in
and hes a yapper out on the field...

bagging him and the coach for getting him over.. when we dont have a hell of alot of talent on our books... little leadership... no voice.. and not much coming through is like a one eyed man taking out his good eye...

hes easily going to be in our top 3 important players for the next 3 odd years

wont be long before he gets back to shine more with the attention off him and on daisy as daisy blows the cobwebs off his game....
can be very useful can murph as second fiddle..

but there is no vitriol... it all gets back to the kind of 'idolatry' people have.. where u cannot criticise some of our stars... similar to the richmond syndrome.
effes and surrey plus OTHERS have bagged the crap out of daisy this year but dont like attention on anybody else.. even though its daisy that has had the least prep work or this season of anybody on our list bar the hapless carrazzo..

so how about some perspective going the other way???

No one's above criticism, clearly. Plenty on here were criticising Murph early on this season.

As they were criticising Daisy, Jeffy, Gibbs and so on.

My own view is that if you're criticising Murphy on last night's game you either didn't see the work he was putting in, or didn't want to see the work he was putting in. Sometimes you work hard and get a lot of the ball, sometimes you work hard and don't, but open the game up for others. The latter happened last night. The point being he busted his gut running both ways.

It seems with Murph there's a segment of the supporter base who believe that unless he gets 30 touches and kicks two goals every week he's failed as a leader of the club.

Co-sign. He's on track. Loved the reaction after the goal - he knew what a big moment that was for him and the team.

Almost equally as important though was his left foot pass to Hendo later on the quarter. that sort of composure and execution when heavy fatigue has set in... that's what elevates him to another level. He's had crucial touches in both the Eagles and Crows games.

As annoyed as I was at letting Adelaide back into the game in the third quarter, I thought we were a better shot of winning with it being close at 3/4 time instead of us being 4 goals up.

another thing about daisy is ... In the final minutes out of a stoppage murphy chased down a crow player and dived at his feet full stretch trying to replicate daisy's game winning smother Vs the eagles. Murphy missed by a bees dick, but the intent was there. Never has a cfc player in the last decade even tried that.

... desperate acts and courage are highly contagious, just like hiding and pea-heartedness are. Daisy is the start of the shift in culture at the club.

what players playing in the midfield must do... is run even HARDER!!!!
put yourself in scoring positions ....he didnt run the guy ragged... if he did he would have slipped through in the last few minutes and put himself into scoring positions.
thats what our midfielders must be doing....
murphy has kicked 5 for the season.....
his tagger kicked 1 on him in one game.. were up to game 9 already....

He played a pretty good game. Commentators repeatedly said he gassed his opponent.

When we get another A grade mid life will be better for everyone.

Another third quarter loss. Our only winning third quarter was against the tigers - 4.2 to 2.6.

According to the AFL website, we have won:

5 first quarters (equal 7th with the dockers and the filth) Best is Geelong with 8;
4 second quarters (equal 8th with gws, dogs, roos, suns and swans) Best is Hawthorn with 7;
1 third quarter (equal last with the lions and gws) Best is Port with 8; and
6 fourth quarters (on our own in third) Best are the roos and the power, both with 7.

We are running out games well, but are getting smashed after half time. Thier inaccuracy yesterday (they kicked 5.5 to our 4.3) meant we were still in touch. We just won the last (4.4 to 3.4).

Exactly. No mid outside of ablett in the comp can do it alone ... another a-grader here and murphy will go up a coupla gears.

Hopefully daisy can be the a grader we need, or we find one this offseason to replace judd.

Very happy that we won the game but ...

If the Blues think they win games against top opposition playing that tricky micky darth vader dr strangelove CRAP they are dreamin!

I mean ... I know we were one player down (Hendo who had another shocker) but seriously!

Come on Dr Strangelove ... prove to us that 1 premiership in 18 years was no fluke.

What are you talking about ? Idolise. You won't hear a bad word about Dalesie. You are way over the top when it comes to him. Excuses all over the place too. He is your idol by the sounds of things. Didn't even mind him messing around fake fighting Collingwood mates for 120mins while the other 21 busted a gut trying to cover for him. "there are tackles and there are tackles"

Good win - ugly game - if we showed that sort of dedication and grunt would have beaten dees and tiggers - but alas - not a great team but better than earlier in the year - team seems to be playing for each other a bit more - winning ugly is good

Another good game menzel Docherty and buckley - gibbs and simpson both good - murph ok too - best game from Daisy and I'm a fan not getting value for money yet but it will come
yarran best season yet -a couple of wobbles down back but influential

Again I need to point out that rowe and white were good and both played within limitations - casboult ok - good goal a couple of skill errors

Hendo horribly out of form and almost least influential game I have seen from him in the last 2-3 years -jeffy not much game time but not getting much from him this season

Good to send scotto off

Fair group still out Carrazzo bell kreuzer judd cripps robinson cripps

Both played ok but lack of pace ellard and mclean an issue

Hendo doesn't look like he's operating anywhere near 100%. He's covering ground but not running with any real power.

I'm guessing there must be something wrong- but if he can't damage himself any further, and with limited/no options in the NBs I guess we may have to lower expectations for a while.

Hendo presented well but our delivery to him was a shambles, especially in the 1st half. I don't believe he was as bad as some are saying.
I think the combination of Casboult, Henderson & Waite is certaintly working well.
