Good win for Wes

Would have been of any of the players knew who he was...

I can't imagine they didn't know him.
I didn't but he is such a big part of the club's history.
I imagine he would have been seen a bit at the club as well.

I think Wes spent time around the club on game days when he still had a box there but once we stopped playing there I don't think he would have walked into the joint.

You have to remember that the Collins/Smorgon era was a bit of a line in the sand for the old regime who were pretty on the nose at the time as a result of the salary cap penalties.

I don't think Wes was the sort of guy who would have hung around like a smelly carcass whilst the new blood took over. That was Jack's job and he limited his involvement to embarrassing media performances.

Even after Pratt took over I think Wes realised that it wouldn't do the new board any favors for either he or Jack to be too close to them.

He still regularly attended matches but it was a fairly long arm's length from the club.

The backline is playing well together.

Docherty and Everitt among the best which is great to see.

Umpires made some absolute blunders, not one of the better officiated games of the year.

Just watched the highlights though, god we could have nearly lost it at the death - Crows player takes the mark inside 50 and it would have been paid yeah? 10 seconds to go and Everitt can only kick to a contest as no one will get free.

Simpson was so awful in the first quarter and I'm still not sure what Andrew Walker's doing this year.

We will be a whole lot better when a whole lot of them come good.

and because they're coached to keep possession at all costs to the detriment of moving the ball forward and trying to score!

Bring that style against the Cats in 2 weeks and we'll be 12 goals down at half time.

And the week after its the Hawks :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

yeah but there are stress areas
meaning when certain players come in or play better the others will have a much easier job of it
when they dont ... its harder
walker is crucial to us...
getting casboult out of that team is crucial
curnow is another coming in that changes the dynamics
henderson

judd will make it easier for murphy and it kind of filters on from there ...

were probably 2 very good midfielders short...

.....needed to get that off my chest

I thought we had a good gutsy win tonight and despite the scoring shot differential (-5) and a 10 min patch to end the 3rd, I thought we controlled the game and deserved the chocolates. Pressure was almost there for 4 quarters tonight. Docherty improving and adds a touch of class. Menzel will star with a bit more consistency. Perhaps the 17 odd boys that had short preseasons are starting to find some fitness. 4 out of 5 with a couple of gritty wins. Looking forward to my first trip to the GABBA next week.

I like Casboult but I'd play him deep, in more of a Hawkins type role.
Let Waite and Hendo be the lead up talls

The Bolt isn't athletic enough for that role

This.

We are much more dangerous when we move the ball quickly.

Every one wants to move the ball quickly. Thought MM did well to take that away from the Crows.

The Dogs tried to stop the GC run today and make it a scrap like our game, but failed and had their pants pulled down.

There are people here who get more upset when we win games rather than lose them.

I just think that we tend to turn the ball over when we play a possession styled game. We look far more dangerous running the ball and moving it quickly. It's just an observation.

Once again the effectiveness was hit and miss but the application couldn't be faulted.

Very much enjoying the younger brigade playing good footy in consecutive weeks.

Can't really fault any of the key backs. I think we want to avoid using Rowe in the switch kicks across the background though, hugely slow release and isn't confident pin pointing his passes.

Simply cannot believe the game Jacobs put together tonight. Clear BOG for mine, although Simmo once again showed why he is the heart and soul of the group.

As bad as the first half was, the last quarter was entertaining. If they do the business next week the can have a couple of big swings at Hawthorn and Geelong.. Who knows?

frustrating footballer

He is.

But the most frustrating thing is we look better with him in the side.

If he had played against Melbourne we would have won. Critical to the side but so frustrating.

Daisy more value than betts if winning football matches is your aim. Whether daisy is worth 700 is a completely different question

Today showed our recruiting department goes from a fail to a pass

All I you want as a supporter is a 4 quarter effort and a team that plays to its ability. We got that today

Yeah...Betts was rubbish.

If he played like that every week he'd only end up with 88 goals for the year.

Easy to do if the pass mark is a mere 50% We haven't even got there yet, we're 12th.
