5. Increase spend on development
6. Increase better engagement and incentive re: members

....ok there are a few more - but with that we'll be on the right track.

That's fair enough....and possible.

I'd wait until I saw it in PowerPoint myself.

Well it sounds like there might finally be some positive moves about to be made then.

Because god knows we need to.

If Silvagni came back, I'd wet myself.

Pratt going is the big one for me.
That will set off all the other required moves.

A mate of mine....his son started at a swish new school in Sydney....kid hits it off well with Sarah and Lachies little boy. Now my mate has to drop his son around there for play dates. Says Sarah is as stunning and personable as she seems on TV....if not better.

Carry on....

This will be a vey important year for the Mighty Blues.
Ciao

Due respect for Sticks, who although he wasn't a very good president or administrator, at least was our third best captain of the past 40 years and our third best CHF.

And to give him his due, and show his versatility, he was also our third best FF of the past 40 years, and probably our 4th best ever.

Deserved to be on the IC bench in our Team of the 20th Century too. Yay Sticks!!

Very good M25. Would the CHF list be:
1. Walls 2. McClure 3. Kernahan

What about FF:
1. Jezza 2. Fev 3. Kernahan

I sometimes wonder whether people's judgement of Kernahan the player is coloured by their judgement of him as a board member/president.

Regardless of how we may feel about his post playing day roles it doesn't change the fact that he was an absolute champion of this club and an excellent leader of the team.

I would rate him ahead of both Walls and Maclure as a CHF and as Captain i rate him as the best i have seen at the club.

Nicholls was an excellent on field general but outside of game time wasn't the greatest representative of the club.

Took me a long time to warm to Kernahan the player.

By the end of his career I thought he was unquestionably the best on-field leader we'd had in the time I had been watching.

A better player than Walls and a mile ahead of Maclure.

But we are in the wrong thread for this.

i doubt sticks can play the game today.. i reckon walls definitely could...

people forget walls because he moved on to fitzroy but he was a colossal figure in each of the 3 flags he played in... one as a 16 yr old..
furthermore if that ian stewart business hadnt have happened and he wasnt moved on he would have played in 7 me thinks
68.70.72 and then 79 (probably would have won 80..81 .. 82
very innovative forward.. not only was he a ripper player especially in the big games..but he smashed alot of opposition players and put the fear of god in them

If I had to compare a player to Sticks and playing now it is N Rewoldt.

When we needed to win the ball, Sticks would gut run up to CHB to try and win the ball through his superior marking.

Sticks was a gun player, not lazy on the field and the best leader I have seen at the blues.

Anyway - off topic

Back on topic.

Make no mistake, this next phase of leadership at the club is the most significant in our history. Why? Because for nearly 20 years, we never looked like ever winning a flag or being a powerful club, as Geelong has created, and Hawthorn are creating with the success they've shared. You could add Sydney to that lot, too.

The decisions made from here on will have massive ramifications to this club, not just because we have to get better, but importantly to transition and transform this club from a VFL club to a truly modern day AFL club.

I remember in the 70's, 80's, and in the early to mid 90's, I used to walk to Princes Park to watch our home games, and knew we would win, no matter who we were playing. It was a case of margin. Of course, we were always guttered when we lost on the rare occassion at PP, but knew whoever we faced the week after we'd bounce back. That feeling knowing of whichever player walked into this club, we would turn them into, at worst, a very serviceable player. WE HAVE LOST THIS SINCE THE EARLY TO MID 90's. We have failed to transition this club from that successful era to a modern day AFL Club. A bit like Nokia - the dominant player in the mobile phone market for such a long time, held onto this thinking, and failed to evolve, and now just NOKIA who (oh, that company, what happened to them?)

I want that feeling of walking to the MCG/Etihad knowing that we are going to win, that no matter who we recruit, we turn them into serviceable/good/great/champion players, and our membership is thriving and growing with the banished members returning and hearing that massive roar when we win a game or hit the front in a game against one of our arch rivals.

All the above is not easy to acheive. In fact, its difficult, but not impossible. We just need to be smart and have the right people on board to make the right decisions to make the above happen, which comes back to my earlier point, this is the most important phase of our club, and we cannot afford to mess it up.

Mark and the board will have their work cut out - make no mistake, and I hope they lead and return the club to a true AFL Powerhouse, one that resembles and is better than what Geelong, Hawthorn, or even Sydney have built.

MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

wont happen... too much ground to make up

we are a middle of the road club with a culture similar to richmond and melbourne

anymore of that and we will slip further

the goal right now is to not fall away anymore

but we will never, ever catch up to collingwood and hawthorn etc
