Malthouses game plan? We have been so inconsistent as of late I couldn't tell you if we even have a game plan!

All digs aside, we do have a game plan, Malthouses game plan, which appears to me to be focused defensively, with quick ball movement, one on one accountability, stoppage specialists, and run run run, and run some more. I have to admit when it works, its great football to watch. When we go wide around the boundary, specifically if Yarran gets a run, that too is exciting footy to watch. But where it all seems to fall short is the boundary bomb to half forward/forward. Without a Cloak, blah blah blah, I think this is an area of Malthouses game plan (IF it is indeed his plan, as it may be player error, or opposition pressure) that is not working for us. We always look bad when we bomb it long into the forward area, and we don't score.

A very simple observational guess at Malthouses game from what I can make of it. Though when its on and firing it does make for exciting football, and can win premierships (cattle, injuries and the will of the Gods is another matter)

And isn't that the frustrating part.
You and others keep telling me there is "much more" to Malthouses game plan but when I ask for details, you continually come up with nothing. :?
Until I'm offered something other than "the vibe", it's the actual statistical data that tells the tale.
Tell me what there is to it! Give me something!

..was actually referring to there being many more things that can skew a coaches stats, other than just gameplan.. ..a coach that has a team go through a rough patch will skew his averaged stats, which when interpreted won't portray the gameplan.. ..which is why I mentioned previously about studying a coach as they go year by year, or even month by month, instead of an averaged career..

..the 'press' isn't just a Lyon thing that the competition picked up, the 'swarm' isn't a Buckley thing either.. ..they are mm methods as much as either of them, but they are a recent mm things, he wasn't playing that way mid noughties, but by late noughties and 10/11 he was a supposed master coach.. ..very different from his early pies team, more different from his eagles and bullies team, so if yo average his career you are left with a skewed pattern..

..the bomb isn't a mm tactic.. ..the idea mm doesn't use taggers, not correct either.. ..mm does have his methods, but he alters them as the game evolves..

This is probably the crux of our problems. I believe in Malthouses game plan in that it can work, but can it work for us?

Can you smell what the Blues are Cooking?

Lets hope its not a loss this Monday.

Addition of Waite and Yarran will help a lot.

Saints have been priming themselves for this one. We'll need all hands on deck.

We couldnt play that bad again, and we know we cant take the Saints lightly. Cost Ratts his job.

All depends on Carazzo, Ellard, Waite and Yarran's fitness, I suppose.

Dare I dream of three wins in the next four weeks? A 5-5 record at the end of round 10?

Best stuff Ive read for ages. I like Armfield in.

Your team looks to have speed without even with Lucas in it.
I hope they dont harrass our guys too much. I dont think Blueboys handle that sort of pressure very well.
They will try and maul us with heavy tags. Would prefer Judd in.

We cant stop Reiwoldt leading up the wings to link up, but we need to man him up with Rowe or Jammo on him.
Jammos smart. He'll know when to run and when not too.

Are you excited because there are two Everitts in the side?

My bad. I meant for Graham to be on the bench.

I think Cripps deserves a spot.
So Cripps in and Docherty out.

If Bell is over his 4 week finger injury I'd keep him for his size and endurance in the midfield.
He's the only one who is going to hit the Saints mids hard. Kreuzer is out and cant barge through packs.

McLean isn't the future. Neither is Carrazzo, but I couldnt see the VC being left out if fit. He takes McLeans spot in the guts.
Bell stays in the team if finger is ok.

Waite comes in, which means big hearted White or Rowe will be dropped. Maybe MM was saving them from a fall with his praise this week.

Yarran would come in for Lucas.

Bell isn't over his finger injury.

You could see its still an issue when he tried to tackle.

Would really like to see the midfield consist of the following with a 4 man forwardline releasing Simpson and Yarran to add to the midfield numbers.

HB: Yarran
C: Thomas Gibbs Walker
R: Warnock Bell Murphy
HF: Simpson

That's what I thought.

He was obviously there to add weight and strength in the midfield.
Unfortunateky we need more than that.

Not sure why Docherty should miss. Looks the goods to me.

White was the only Carlton player to revive coaches votes on Friday night. Kept Jesse White to 0 influence.
