I attended all three games at the G on the weekend, and another thing that stuck out to me was the lack of 'stuff' going on out on the ground before the bounce for our home game compared to the other home teams (Hawthorn/Geelong). By this I mean engagement of supporters/members at the ground through different pre-game activities. With the exception of the poor guy kicking a football for the first time in front of 50,000+ people, there didn't seem to be anything else happening that targeted supporters at the ground. Even down to using James Sherry as MC, who also does Richmond's games there.

It was supposed to be a celebration of 150 years of the CFC, but except for some highlights of past exploits on the big screen, what else was there?? Where was the motorcade of Carlton legends (every Richmond home game includes a past legend coming out with their family to "kick the first goal")? Where were the 16 Cups? Hell, Collingwood's banner was still twice the size of ours and they were the freaking away team. Can you imagine what Eddie would've conjured if the occasion was there's?

It's all these little things that continue to paint CFC as a bland, vanilla organisation, that either don't know what they're doing, or don't care.

Mark, these are the sorts of things you need to fix, and Heaven help you.

I've been saying this for a while.

the club has not recovered since leaving Princess Park. We gave up more than our home games when we left Princess Park to play at Etihad ... we gave up our club, the passion, it history ... and we are yet to re-create something that gets ven close to that. There needs to be permanent room or something where it is a sign that goes up and goes down depending on how plays that day .. Any negotiations that are happening with the MCG should involve a real social club .... no the corporate chat area we currently have ...

thinking about it, this club really has fallen away in a massive way, and I wish the prez all the best. He has more to do than he realised.

and I give you a tip, don't create something that relies on the fans, who pay a truck load to watch the blues, to then have to dip further into their pockets .... I pay close to $800 a year to watch the blues, and really, im struggling to think for a reason why I am ...

Where is this Princess Park of which you speak?

Did you see them on Friday night, KK? I think renaming it Princess Park is appropriate.

That's two little words that universally describes our Club across the board... OLD SCHOOL!!

Hate to admit, but Collingwood do a great job engaging with their fans. Eddie understands that the rank and file fans are the Clubs bread and butter. Sticks however, has been too busy kissing the butts of the Pratts, Mathiesons and Edelston, and turning every part of the Club 'exclusive', that he hasn't realized the detachment between fans and Club.

As a club we have sometimes lamented the fact that we don't have a mascot, however right now I think the DODOs would be perfect.

you see.. everything we do is elitist and exclusive

Its interesting you mention that.

Spoke with an employee of the club the other day who expressed their frustration at the complete inability for the club to provide access to players for open training sessions, clinics, public appearances, and that its ingrained in the players upon joining the club how unnecessary it is for them to partake in it, that the club is far too old school in worrying about the "worst case scenario" in exposing players to these sorts of appearances, and are quick to kibosh any attempt that they deem "unnecessary".

Blamed your mate Shane-O as being the main offender in regards to that.

If that's true, then the bloke is a cancer, and needs to be pissed off as soon as possible.

Can't find anything on the HS website. New layout is crap.

I heard on SEN news that he is disenchanted with the direction of the Board. Anyone know anything? Is this another case (Williams the recruiter) of someone coming on board, having a look around and realising the stench that is there?

Well, he was one of two candidates to become President . So it might be a reaction to loosing .

what did u think about him when you met him?

I met him twice. Hard to judge somebody on that limited exposure. Came across like a nice guy - entrepreneur type. Seemed genuine open minded and interested in peoples opinion. I like to know more details why he is leaving - maybe a clash with the old money camp?

We do have some board members reading the forum so maybe they can respond.

Not sure. Not if it is back to the future ticket. Anyone know Fraser's agenda?

FWIW, his 2006 agenda was to get past Carlton greats into formal roles.

Nah, its club policy for the boys to not mix with supporters.
Or sign footys etc

Shane-O does what hes told.. wouldnt blame him for formulating club policy.
Though he has a better record for recruiting than Hughes.
