For those who say MM's game plan is irrelevant in today's footy. Have a look at GC against Kanga's today and how it work with the right cattle. Jeez GC are developing fast.

:?

Are you suggesting GC play to Malthouses game plan?

Today they did.

Malthouse teams are historically kicking teams with a strong emphasis on contested marking.
Gold Coast had a kick/handball ratio of 1.22. 7 contested marks for the day.
They use their hands significantly more than Collingwood did under Malthouse.
They're more a Geelong clone than anything Malthouse served up. Mind you, I cant blame them. The Geelong model is sustainably superior to anything else we've seen of late.

Rubbish. GC played perfect MM football today. Defensive pressure and along the boundary - killed North with their movement along the boundary . Very much CWood 2010 style. Demonstrated that if you don't have the cattle it doesn't matter which style of game you play.

BV's provided proof. A much higher handball to kick ratio a MM game plan does not maketh.

Please provide facts.

The cats just got over the tigers yesterday at the MCG.

The game was in the balance at 3/4 time with the cats holding a 7 point lead.

The tackle count was about even at 48 to 47 cats favour.

Final quarter, the tigers play very well wining a few extra contested balls with fresher legs.

The cats know what to do. Their tackle count for the final quarter rocketed up by 31 tackles. The tigers remained on their average tackle count of 12 per quarter.

It's not just about tackles of course, but these 1%ers, workrate and contested ball stats often decide a game. Especially a close game.

The blues were pathetic in these areas against the pies on Friday night.

Tackles (49) lowest for the year (highest was 88 against the bulldogs)
Contested ball (117) lowest for the year (highest was 150 against the bulldogs)
1%ers were 2nd or third lowest for the year.
Workrate pathetic - especially first 3 quarters.

Result? 2 goals kicked in 3 quarters. A total embarrassment was avoided by the team somehow kicking 8 goals in the last term when the game was shot.

Have the players worked it out yet?

Yeah I reckon they have.

When it's all too hard they turn up their toes, relying on a few late "Warren McKenzies" in the last quarter to make the score look slightly respectable.

Well done. Your first word summed up the remainder of your post.
The GC attacked the corridor as much as anyone else did on the weekend. The key is to attack the corridor when the fast break is on and to play a more defensive brand when faced with a well set zone. No doubt GC made good decisions about when to pull the trigger.
Mind you, its a pretty safe bet when you have 3 quality falls leading and marking at will.

You're right about one thing though. Having the cattle makes a huge difference. What makes a good coach however is one who can extract something special from inferior lists. A coach who can get the maximum out of the playing group at his disposal. Anyone who thinks we're seeing that at the moment is kidding themselves.

Everitt - Jamo - Rowe
Buckley - Touhy - Docherty
Simpson - Bell - Gibbs
Menzel - Henderson - Garlett
Cripps - Casboult - Armfield
Warnock - Murphy - Walker

White - Graham - Robinson
sub: Scotland

All depends on Carazzo, Ellard, Waite and Yarran's fitness, I suppose.

Dare I dream of three wins in the next four weeks? A 5-5 record at the end of round 10?

If we aren't 5-5 then I think a few more kids will be blooded as the failures are banished for good.
