I can vouch for the house prices that Clem posted too. Mrs S and I have just applied for a pre-approved home loan. To get anything decent in the hills district (40 k's from the city) we're looking between 500 - 600k.

The prices get dearer the closer you get to the city

I think you'll find the current system is available to all clubs, it is just labelled as a Sydney/Brisbane concessions because, funnily, enough they have more players on their list not from their state. Sydney may also have a higher cap due to cost of living, but I think that is separate from any "keep interstate" players concession.

As an aside, I think the upcoming television rights deal will def affect the blues. As much as i'd love nine to have the footy, they could only afford it if they continue a relationship with foxtel, which would mean more carlton matches on pay tv. As previously stated we already get bent over a barrel in our free to air coverage, if foxtel were to have 50% of the rights, we'd prob end up with 6 games a year on free to air. We are struggling enough as it is with sponsorship - let's hope the interest created by the no.1 pick and a free to air tv deal keeps the blues in prime time where we belong

It's bulldust. I'd say the only time you should get more money for cost of living in Sydney is if you are on the minimum payment..like rookies and first year players, surely it wouldn't effect a player on 100k plus. Also Brisbanes salary cap should be halved....It's a heck of a lot cheaper to live there.....adelaide too!

It should be a system thats works for the whole competition....not just Sydney...they should work out percentages and averages and the like...then I might change my tune a bit.

Does anyone really believe the Swans have anywhere near the best list?
I wouldnt put them in the best 5 for talent.

They had a brilliant run with injury and a team that plays disciplined, team orientated football.
Roos has assembled a team which is well balanced when they have all their players. Mark Thompson could learn a lot from their structure.

Good luck to them but dont short change their achievements. They won because they were the best team on the day,

Me too, I've just been reading the AFLPA CBA with the AFL, but nothing in there mentions concessions when discussing the Total Player Payments (ie salary cap).

I heard Jabba mention this "fakt" on the radio a year or so ago, I'm sure, just trying to substantiate my claims.
