They're the ones I love to beat the most.

Yep. My feelings exactly.

If you are a child of the 80's

If I give you the 1981 Night Grand Fina followed by THAT game at Princes Park in 1981, followed by the fact we never beat the bastards from 1981 through to 1985 - Followed by the fact that every time we played them in the 80's, we had at least one of Marcou, Glasscott or anyone of our Mosquito Fleet carried off on a stretcher.

Then you can add the 1993 Grand Final, which not even the 1999 Preliminary Final can erase, and then Ron Evans coup de grace in 2002.

I really hate Essendon* already......... a lot!!!!!!

They loved beating us more than any other team. That era, we couldnt get near them. Tough call who I hate more Pies or Essendon*.
I'd probably say Pies, because it keeps the BOmbers with an inferiority complex.

+1 (but then you'd guess that from my username)

What about R21 2000 when we were up by about 15 points and Kouta, Braddles and Allen all got injured. With a full list, we wouldve won the flag in 2000.
Carlton have never recovered from Wayne Brittain's unnecessary sacking

Always p!sses me off when I hear some drug cheat supporting moron go on about how great their 2000 side. Every one those scum supporting b@stards has forgotten how scared they were facing the Blues in that Rd 21 game. The way Kouta was playing in 2000 he could have beaten them by himself - nobody could touch him including that Chief Drug Cheat of theirs.

Back on topic, I have sneaky feeling we might actually win this one.

Can't afford to go into our shells & kick to stationary targets like we did in the second half on Sunday.

Don't think we'll win but if we put in a decent honest effort I'll be reasonably happy.

Well described Galty.

Keep them wanting to be as important and big ascCarlton v Collingwood.

Anzac Day comes close but it's manufactured by the AFL.

Carlton v Coll legend lives in hearts minds and souls of all backgrounds, even Essendon* supporters.

As another child of the 80's I grew up hating collingwood the most. It was inherited somehow. Somewhere in the late 90's (I vaguely recall a Glenn Manton 'shove it up them' speech') the dislike shifted to Essendon**. And then we went through a patch where we just couldn't beat them. Somewhere in there I stopped caring enough to hate Collingwood (maybe watching them lose a couple of grand finals to the lions helped) Eddie appears to have faded more into the background too. Now it is just Essendon** I hate. And whilst I hope they get infractions, more than that, I just want to beat them.

I grew up hating Collingwood more as well, however through the 90s and 00s, my hate for them decreased somewhat as my loathing of the Drug Taking Scum increased dramatically to unhealthy levels.
Just think Sheedy, Bewick, Morcroft, Denham, Hird, Lloyd, Wallis, 'the whole 'Baby Bombers' hysteria, Wanganeen's dodgy Brownlow win that robbed Deisel, the sniping in the 1993 GF, the countless come from behind victories against us, the ridiculous overcelebrating after goals, the media love, their smugness and double standardness, Ron Evans, their arrogant cult like 'fans', the Drugs Saga........

I think I loved Fev so much from the point at quarter time, when he ran through Didak at the Collingwood huddle and then got tarred and feathered by about 15 of them. He gets up from the bottom of it all bleeding, and laughs at them asking, "is that all you got?"

lol at Rocca knocking out Fraser with his arse.

Everitt to Pendles seems a given.

Not sure on the rest. Iffy on the idea of rushing Carrots back, but think Swan's form may warrant it. Does Cachia get a look in for this reason?

We will probably rush Carrots back even though he's become a battler. I'd prefer to see Cachia.

The key will be when MM decides to schedule a strategic sausage sizzle...

My bet is at half time

There is no way known, that Nathan Buckley can counter a SSS.

This for sure.

Pooncie sash wearing smug pricks I went to Uni with were intolerable after the 93 GF. That for me was the moment. Mimicking SOS saying the ball was touched in my face - I was probably lucky I didn't put one of them in hospital.

When the drug cheating (let's not mince words) story broke I was SO damn happy it was the scum.

Payback is a beautiful thing.

Not sure, the best taggers are those who can play off their opponent. This is why Curnow has improved his value to the team - he can run off his opponent. If Carrots is fit I would put him on Swan.

You don't see enough Fox Footy. Collingwood cracks a mention everytime he's on there.

I can handle Collingwood but cannot stand Essendon*. A couple of trips spoilt with them getting the chocolates (incl last years debacle) plus all the other things mentioned above. F------ Essendon*!

Agro is from my generation, we hate that flower more than the Pies, with him all the way on this. Before the early 80's, yes the Pies were the No.1 enemy.

He forgot to mention how everytime the flower beat us back then Sheedy would invariably come out with put down quotes like "Yeah, it was a good win, but my boys could have played better". Very, very hard to take. Princes Park 1981, still haven't moved on..
