Yeah Armfield is a poor man's yarran, his run is the most logical replacement for the loss of Yarrans ... Docherty if he comes in (which I can't see happening myself) would be more a replacement for White or Rowe.

Carrots on Pendelbury is the matchup we need, he's always done the job on him in the past. Fingers crossed for carrott's back, I guess.

Warnock, on current form, should own the stoppages giving us first use of the ball. I like our chances of keeping them honest, and if we give them the stress test, it'll be interesting to see how they go. That's where the hawks and geelong expose the pies, hot contested football.

I am really looking forward to this game. I know we are playing a very good side and up against the odds......BUT........if we beat these flowers and MM can keep a lid on it amongst the playing group, then we will have our Mojo back.

Come on blues - lets hope we have a good week on the track and good news with some of the injury concerns.

The pies arent playing all that well - Cloke isnt kicking goals for a start. They are relying on turnovers to get their goals (mainly by their small players)

And the bombers were just terrible after quarter time with just 3 goals in the last 3 quarters.

I prefer that the pies go in over confident though.

(note however that the Pies still managed to rack up 98 tackles for the game. Our club record is 90 in 2011. We had 88 tackles last week and 72 against the Eagles. Its not just about tackling pressure though - but that is a good indicator of team intensity and desperation)

They are a good side but nothing special - other than Pendlebury, Swan, Beams, Sidebottom and Cloke they are just a bunch of good/average footballers however all with a strong work ethic.
I think we are a slight chance however would be more confident if Judd and Yarran were playing.

Marking is all he does to AFL level.

his mark on the wing is what released murphy to run down the wing for the match winner :smoking:

I know that but over the game defensively we were a man down. May not have required that mark to win the game.

He is a fantastic mark. One of the best in the league.

I agree a statement can be made in this game. So proud of the boys yesterday, now keep it going!

Murph and Gibbs need to keep up the tackling and intensity of the last 2 weeks.

I do think we are seeing a better performing side now largely due to many of the underdone players now up and running.

Momentum is a powerful thing, and belief. Win this one and suddenly a lot seems possible.

Some people are suggesting Lucas gets dropped, but I thought he played quite well, esp last quarter again. Deserves to keep his spot. Loved that receive from Warnock tap and handball to Buckley for the equaliser.

Didn't I read that Yarran was only subbed as a precaution, Mick said he should be right for this Friday??

I liked Casboult's game. I reckon Mick is getting him to impose himself more physically on contests.

Apart from those shocking misses I thought he did well.

Agree
Casboult is presenting at more contests. His tank is obvously improvng. Must be kept all year
Call in a hypnotherapist to work on his psyche when kicking for goal as his kicks around the ground are satisfactory

Every time Yarran does a hammy it's described as just tightness....and he misses weeks

do you know what.

I think the best thing about our last two wins as they havew come with any influence from Judd. For too long I think many, and probably our own players have assumed judd would get us over the line.

hopefully the last few weeks prove to the players that they can do it themselves, without judd, and then having judd in the side as just a benefit and not something that has to be relied on to win.

after last week's win I feel we do not have the quality of player or not playing like a top team to challenge Collingwood, will be barracking from the long room with the toffs or sitting in the Carlton cheer squad with the beautiful people  .

I thought Docherty had some size to him. So what you're saying is, he's a halfback flanker? Can he run like Yarran?

true. last time we described it as tightness he played the next game on the Monday night v Saints and tore it about 10 minutes into the 1st qtr.

no point risking that again - pretty sure his season went south from there.

bring in carrazzo if he's ok and perhaps a smaller guy for casboult if the weather is as bad as predicted.

The good news is we've now got a hungry team. Poor efforts won't be tolerated and you have to fight to get into the side. Armfield would have been a walk-up start to this side 2 years ago - now he has to battle.

This is why the 'play the kids' theory is BS IMO.

You want in - you earn it. You want to keep your sport - you play your part. Menzel and Bucks have shown they're capable of competing in big situations - they need to keep that up. Same goes for Cripps. There should be no easy rides.

Jeffy is better for being dropped. McLean put in one of his best.
