Most pleasing Bentick; Waite.

Most disappointing: Karl (wanted him to make it), Fevola (attitude) Houla Campo & Wild Blue Yonder (failed to pick up a POW for some classic comedy).

Deluca 2005 83 possessions,28 marks 6 goals one goal after round 3.Ordinary but why I think he is the most disappointing is the way he plays;powderpuff footy. At least guys like Livo and Sporn seem to give a shit when they play.

That response suprises me. While I was hoping for a big year from Deluca, and it didn't eventuate, his hardness at the ball, or lack of, wasn't a concern for me. I feel he's always done quite well to hit the pack hard. He's big, and quite quick, and I can't remember seeing him not go at the ball when the opportunity has presented. Unfortunately, after creating opportunities for himself by getting to contests, the ball bounces off his hards with alarming regularity.

My disappointment was Norman. To turn up in the right state, do the right things by your body and show you care about your club and team should be the easy parts of being a footballer. Norman couldn't manage this, despite the rest of it seeming to come easily for him. That annoys me.

Most pleasing was Simmo. To see a player come into his own after a few years in the system and play exciting footy is good to see.

Most dissappointing

1. David Teague (f....n pathetic! Lappin was dudded by this one year overacheiver!)
2. Ian Prendergast (finally we can all admit he's just not good enough, for years has been a young player with "potential")
3. Trent Sporn (Dud,)
4. Justin Davies (Capable of more, but doubt he'll deliver to what he's capable of)
5. Karl Norman (waste of talent!)
6. Ryan Houlihan (I Now understand why he has so many critics. Would be better suited to synchronised swimming!)

Average (In The Middle):
Brendan Fevola let himself down big time in the second half of the year and was bordering on pathetic in some matches, also negative attitude. That said, his first half of the year, while not brilliant, was consistently good. Needs to eradicate the shit from his system.

Matthew Lappin's year wasn't great. He was quiet in a lot of matches, but I think an uncertain future at Carlton may have een playing on his mind.

Heath Scotland's form in the second half of the year puts him in this category. I was very relieved to realise not all our trades were 1 year wonders. He'll continue to be a solid contributor for Carlton I believe.

Most Pleasing

1. Kade Simpson: Been a big fan of his and he is rewarding the faith been put in him. Stamped his authority in the second half of 2005 and I can't see how he can't go forward from here.

2. Brad Fisher: Brilliant return. His comeback match brought smiles all round to my face. I definetely took out alot of this match with his form and other dashes of hope that came from our other young player

3. Adam Bentick: Just hadn't been given enough of a go. I had been waiting for him to be given a chance. He diidn't dissappoint and his great finish to the season suggest he has a bright future.

4. Jarrad Waite: He is a delight to watch and is improving all the time. His possesion by foot can let him down at times but his defensive forward pressure is brilliant, is a very good mark, quite a goalkicker, agile and athletic. If he stamps out his weaknesses, he will be the player we all know he can be.

5. Andrew Carrazzo: His possesion improved enormously over the year. At the start of the year I would cringe hoping his possesion would find it's target. By the end of the year, proved to be relatively reliable in that area and reaped the benifets of hard work. He will also pass the test of time I think.

6. Lance Whitnall: Being one of Lance's critics, it would be unfair to dismiss him from this list. Also improved by the end of the year, while not without his lean patches, went back to some of his good form.Who knows what he could do if given more time up forward? (Even Synbad would admit that?)

Anyway, that's the way I saw it.

Get a copy of the Geelong game to see what I am talking about with Deluca.Maybe his feet were giving him trouble in this game.Maybe I am being a bit harsh .He is still young.Unlike many of the disappointing players mentioned(with the exception of Davies) you can see he can be a really good player. The Melbourne game when the Fry hurt himself saw Deluca go on the ball. His last quarter was good.

Maybe with a full pre season we should give him the responsibility of being no 1 ruckman.it might bring the best out of him.

This table shows how our players did this year compared to 2004, gives a pretty good indication of who improved and who went backwards.

The numbers are an average of kicks, handballs, marks, goals, behinds, tackles and hitouts for each game.

Interesting fro Davies Jarusa - but 22% of nothing is still nothing...

Disappointing: Walker. - Shows us glimpses but thats all. Has gone backwards and for some reason keeps getting pats on the back even when his performance doesnt warrant it.
n.b. Davies and Sporn disappointing but not unexpected.
Teague was disappointing to but still far from our worst, hard to live up to such agood 04 season

Pleasing: Whitnall - getting back to the good old days.
Carazzo
Simpson
Kouta - still going strong

Actually I'm not disappointed with Davies. I expected nothing, and he met all my expectations.
