thomas absolutely epic smother then fist in a marking contest with naitanui

8 blokes at my place and we rewinded the smother 10 times on IQ and the roar in my house blew the roof off all 10 times

He's the one bloke in the whole AFL who doesn't pretend to smother. Pity his kicking is [REDACTED].

Hopefully next year his towering marks return.

Surprised not much talk about Rowe ! He bloody played awesome I reckon , looked strong in the 1 on 1s ! We have found a decent Backman I reckon

I'm not convinced, in fact I'm very doubtful, but I reckon it's his brain that holds him back. His body is fine, he shows patches of ability - if he could learn to read the game and think faster he could be anything. Mick will make him or break him.

Rowe is very low on confidence - the next step is to back himself to take marks: twice today he two fist punched when he could have taken the mark. If he backs himself to do this he might have career.
Not a great game at all, much a much mor competitive one.

I think it's because he's not aware of what's happening around him. Good players know instinctively how much time and space they have, but just like Russell, Rowe doesn't seem to get it and panics.

Pros:

Bit lucky in the end, but great to win a close one. Another gutsy hardworking effort late in the game.
Goalkicking (makes such a huge difference).
Good to see Buckley back in the side. Shows really exciting AFL attributes.
Casboult was handy again. Showed some pretty good dash at one point running through the centre square. Didn’t realise he had that pace. It’s kind of good he’s going to get an extended run at senior level with Kreuzer out of the side
2 weeks in a row the senior guys have really shown the way. Murphy, Gibbs, Waite, Simmo.
Yarran’s had a terrific year.
Garlett makes a huge difference, when he plays well.
Actually thought Robbo made good decisions with the ball.
Really like the way White competes.

Cons:

Gibbs and Casboult’s kicking for goal.
Another injury (with Yarran).
Like to see Thomas having more impact.
Could have shown a bit more poise in the last couple of minutes.

BEST RECRUITING....................EVA!!!!!!

Seriously at the 10 min mark of the 4th I thought we were the sausage on the BBQ...........'Put a fork in us, we're done'.
I thought the petrol tank was empty and the fumes were all but dissipated. The 6 day break after a grueling, fast paced previous game had drained the legs. But no, something happened and all of a sudden we got a 5th wind and a sniff from Jeffy.

the last 15 mins was a stunning turn around.

Kudos to Jamo, White and Walker who were magnificent. 206 was just barely standing at the end but he also backed up from last week against the best opposition in the AFL.

And the cherry on top was Little Bucks. You can't not love a kid that plays with all heart. :thanks: Very proud of him tonight.

Regards Cazzesman

Hmmm.. So what recruiting are you talking about exactly?
Buckley?
Wasn't he a father son?

Great that the boys had a win, but I wouldn't exactly describe this as the George W Bush '' Mission Accomplished!! '' moment of the Hughes era recruiting team.

I was most impressed by Sam Rowe, as to be fair I've had the least expectationsof him.
If he can keep improving he *might* be a chance to make it.
Good luck Sam

Footy gods were on our side tonight. It was good to be on the right end of a close one for once.

Seeing a bit of sooking about the umpiring but the Eagles kicked 1.7 or something in the last quarter. PLS.

The roars at Etihad in the last were awesome!

Sooking from West Coast supporters about umpiring? Have they ever noticed the run they get at Subiaco? Tell 'em to watch our games against them at Subi in 2011 and 2012.

Just watched the last half of the last quarter.
Great gutsy effort.
OK we had a bit of luck but that happens one way or the other and we were due.
I'll have another look tomorrow when the missus is not expecting me to do something productive...

Crikey! What a bunch of clueless whingers. I had to read page after page of Weagle whining about umpires - couldn't stop - with thankfully virtually no sympathy from non-Weagles supporters of any stripe. Everyone's sick of their Subi record.

Makes me all the gladder that we upset their little applecart.

Kudos to Menzel for providing a spark in the last. Things might have been different against Melbourne if he hadn't been injured. He has a natural hunger and talent to match.

And what everyone else has said (the good stuff, not the insert-your-favourite-whipping-boy-here crap).

Gutsy stuff, Blues.

Couple of things. I listened to 3LO & they mentioned WCE despite Kennedy Darling Cox are ranked 16th in the comp for marks inside 50

Commentators couldn't work out why Wellingham was getting booed all day - could he be the new Milburn?

WCE Facebook page is an amusing read right now. The umpires, booooo! Oh the ironing.

All those blokes were all those things. You cant go through football life cruising.
At some point you need to find an extra gear.

The moral high ground, hey?

What was your first post in this thread? '"The Mick knockers need to eat some humble pie"?

When we lose the players are piss weak prima donnas. Shit list, can't play
When we win, (with 7 less scoring shots) its all about Mick. How about giving credit to the players you've been laying the boots into?

It was a good effort from all involved. Great leadership on-field, excellent work rate by the players, strong character and a positive game style and coaching effort. Well done to all involved.

yeah i think headspace is super important in footy and life.

my big interest in football atm is the headspace psychology and strategies of everybody from the president
board
coaches
players etc

this club is a curious exercise of study for any amateur psychologist .. political analyst and anybody who likes to study behaviour.

just need to get the basics right all over the club and the club will move forward.

Fluke. But I'll take it.

We kicked goals. They kicked points.

Will do us good for the confidence. Bring on Collingwood.
