Very poor, but of course our premiership window has been re-opened after last week

Lucas in the side and Menzel has been brought in for Ellard.

I'm sure I'll change once the game starts, but I'm not too fussed about the result. Obviously I'd rather we won, but given where we're at as a footy club I'm just looking for last week's endeavour to be repeated. If we lay 80 tackles and lose because the opposition outgunned us, well, I can live with that. What I cannot accept is a soft, pedestrian effort.

The media keeps talking about the loss of Judd, but I think Curnow & Ellard are bigger losses in the short term. Both are 'heart & soul' type players who have been playing their role and always bring an appetite for hard work. We're in fairly short supply of those types.

I think it's unlikely we'll win unfortunately, but if we turn up with the right attitude - determined work ethic and fierce concentration for 4 quarters - we'll give ourselves a chance. Otherwise, the Eagles (who need a win too) will smash us...

My feelings exactly.

The positive is that I believe the West Coast aren't any better than The Bulldogs, especially at Etihad.

Absolutely agree with the sentiments, a repeat of the attitude and intensity of last week's game would be satisfactory.
If we register a win great but if we go down fighting to a more skillful outfit so be it.
Given the shambles surrounding the club at the monument we need to rebuild heart and talent.
Go Blues

.....that's all members ask for (as well as the coach)

Mistakes and clangers withing games I can live with.

Poor workrate, 1%ers and contested ball (ie the basics of the game) is just unacceptable.

In fact the players shouldn't accept sub standard performance in these basic areas of the game, and yet they have for a many years now.

Its why we cant string more than 4 wins together within a season, and fail to go deep into the finals when we make them.

Last years disgraceful final against the Swans is a good example. I suggest all members watch that game again rather than players flicking switches in the previous weeks final.

For the Swans to gather 450 odd possessions and for us to tally 39 tackles as a team is symptomatic of what sort of team we are. How the @#$%&! did we expect to get the ball back from the Swans if we didnt match them in intensity, contested ball, tackling, pressure, blocks, etc?

i dont trust this group of players at all but I do give them a fresh chance to show everyone what they can do each week.

Trust me, there has not been a 'build up'.

The loss of Curnow & Ellard really lessens my confidence about a win. Both have been very good this year. Bell was good last week as well.

Robbo I don't believe is up to it and it depends which McLean turns up as to whether he is worth it. Glad Menzel is back and I hope to see him play more through the midfield. Disappointed Buckley not playing.

WCE are ordinary so we are a chance. As usual it's all about effort.

Looking forward to seeing our side with Docherty, Menzel, Graham, Cripps, Holman, Temay, Buckley, Giles all in the line up later in the year.

I meant from a Perth point of view but point taken.

Ellard is not a loss, I'd rather Menzel in. The fact that Graham didn't even make it as an emergency this week tells me Super Duper MM does not rate him. I'd like to see 10 games in him (none as the sub) to see how he goes in the seniors but MM will probably only play them once it is mathematically impossible to make the finals.

first graham has to stop going to ground .. he does it too often in a foot race with an opponent
if ur on the ground u wont win the ball

his footspeed is a problem

Right now Ellard is our best small forward by a long way.

Agree. Is he an out and out star? No but he has kicked goals, been very good defensively and can run through the midfield.

As for Graham, been playing as well as anyone in the 2's and Three games as a sub is not a great way to get experience at AFL level.

Let's just hope WCE playing 3 rucks is as successful as when we used to play 3 rucks. Particularly last years game against St Kilda.

Mick said in his weekly video that Graham was a shoe in to play this week, it's just strange that he isn't. I don't think it's because mick doesn't rate him.

What you just described about Ellard, Menzel can do but with better skills ;)

Agree, but Menzel doesn't find as much of the ball, YET. But I'd have both in my side.
