MM: “Nick Graham played his role – he was an emergency the previous week and went back and played very well – so he’s certainly in our thoughts this week given that we need another midfielder.”

“We thought that our goal scoring was pretty broad and we need to add to that. We’ve got players who have played pretty well in scoring, so they will come into contention, and we probably need another two backline players.”

Given those comments I think we'll see...

In: Jamison, Watson, Graham, Menzel, Garlett
Out: Rowe, Curnow, Bell, Judd, Scotland
Sub: Tuohy
Emerg: Scotland, Rowe, Buckley

Loathe to drop Scotland after kicking two but Menz and Jeff can cover his work while Graham, Ellard and Cripps can contribute in the middle. Tuohy goes into the middle when coming on as sub, though he could play at either end too if required.

Walker and Yarran to provide the drive from half back.

I'd prefer that we promote youth at every opportunity.

Tuohy under injury cloud. Scotland stays in unless Doc is ready but reports are he experienced vision problems in the VFL & didn't play out the game.

Why would be drop Scotland? Especially given the injuries we have.

Thought he played well, except for playing on after marking 10 metres out.

Love Scotto...........

Tis is going to be a difficult game for us. I can see their tall forwards giving s grief.

Eagles by 5 goals

They WILL have the same problem with us with our talls ( hendo, waite+caz).
It will be interesting who comes in ,I think Mclean,Graham,Jamieson ,Garlett Menzel in
I think Cripps+White will go with the injured players not that I want Cripps to go but we have form with our new players.

All games will be difficult for us this year.....

we dig very deep holes for ourselves and then wonder why it's so difficult to get out

Will come down to midfield. Their talls won't be worth a pinch of shit if we can restrict supply, which we didn't exactly do against the Bulldogs who actually beat us for i50's.

With Judd, Curnow, Bell forced changes, I think that Scotto, Cripps etc... will be there against the Eagles.
Why would you make unforced changes. Cripps was ordinary but you challenge him and put him out there again.
MAYBE, one more change if Jamo is truly ready (which I doubt if it was really a calf...)

Out: Judd, Curnow, Bell
In: Jeffy, Graham, one of Army/Cachia/McLean

If Jamo is fit, bring him in in place of White or Rowe.

We'll need another top shelf performance from Murphy, Gibbs and Warnock (+1 goal each)
We'll need 8 goals from Lachie/Waite/Casboult
Jeffy and Yazz 4 goals and tackling like the devil
Everitt might run with NicNat...

IN: Jamo / Watto, Buckley, Graham, Garlett.
OUT: Judd, Bell, Curnow, White / Rowe.

Depends on match-ups.

Was it him who Yazz burned off with his pace at every opportunity last year ?.

It was his labouring brother, Adam (now retired). Army came from well behind A.Selwood to offer a a bonza shepherd as Yazz wandered into an open game.

thats true - but the doggies didnt take many marks inside 50. We took far more.

The bottom line will be workrate, 1%ers and contested ball

Dogs don't have the tall forwards that the Eagles do. Can't let them get that many more i50's and expect to win.

I wouldn't drop Rowe....They need to persist with him.... he is a big Body and will get better if they keep playing him down back...

Even if Jamison comes back, Keep Rowe, so that both Hendo and Waite can continue their attack combination...

The One I would drop is White as he continues to struggle to hold a key defensive role... he was well beaten by Cramery last week.

Logic says Mclean should be an automatic swap for Curnow, but some have suggested that Mick will never play him again.... so will see!!!

As for Nick Graham, I still don't get why so many Carlton supports have big wraps on him. From what I saw so far, he has a terrible disposal, average speed and seemed well beaten in all the games he played. He just doesn't look like he has it, but its early days... he has a lot to work on to become a good midfielder!!!

I'm a fan of like for like.
Robbo for Bell if fit. Or Graham/Cachia if not)
Carazzo for Curnow's role
McLean for Carazzo's role
Menzell in if tit for Judd
If Touhy is out, we have nobody similar so I suppose White is a possibility for his pocket. He was beaten last week but Crameri has beaten better than him before.
If Touhy is OK we stick with him.

So:
Out Judd, Curnow and Bell (all mids, which is a blow)
In: Robbo, McLean, Menzell. (If Robbo and Menzell aen't ready, Graham and Cachia)

We go OK against them. I'm looking for a win. They're in the same group as us. 9-14 finish. We have to win against those teams to make anything of the season.

Whats got me stressing out is will the team go the quick ball movement like we did against the Bulldogs?

I liked what I saw against the Bulldogs, but its stressing me out not knowing if the Carlton we saw last week will show up again this week? Surely Malthouse will have to make some changes, injuries alone will dictate a reshuffle of sorts, but the game style, surely we'll opt to go for the same again this weekend? We've got to get consistency right across the board. Hawthorn and Geelong both have very distinct game styles and we should too. If our game is quick ball movement, a more "instinctive" style of football, then shouldn't we be sticking with it?

Playing to our strengths is how I'm looking at it. We've got some genuine speed in our list, and lets face it we ain't exactly big bodied like some teams going around, and our skills (if off on the day) can make us look pretty ordinary. But speed is a definite strength we possess, and I'm stressing out not knowing if we're going to stick with something I consider an advantage.
