Thank god some sense.
Playing "the kids" is one thing. Playing someone who is never going to make it because he has nothing that even resembles an AFL footballer is quite another.
Henderson must play back. I know BKB likes him forward with his "running patterns" but he is more value to us back, no question. Waite and Casboult forward.

..watto is afl standard.. ..he could be quite decent if he pushed himself.... ..he might not be a very good player, sure.. ..granted.. ..partly him partly environment.. ....very few players have been able to really come on..

..heh, you bet I like hendo's running patterns.. ..he is a chf or a chb, Waite is neither.. ..waite offers little to the collective drive beyond individual performance.. ..bolt is more chf than ff, and very very poor as back up ruck.. ..wood still not promoted via lti?, so it seems either bolt or Rowe as back up..

..for me, hendo needs to play forward, we need to look long term now..

Which Carlton United will turn up this Sunday?

Good Carlton United or Bad Carlton United?

More mediocrity.

The only choice we have is to play Watson, Lucas, Graham, Cripps etc for the rest of the year, give them experience and see if they are truly up to it.

We wont win a Premiership this year so why play players that are out of form or past their best.

I want a quick fix. I need a win.

Waite and Garlett on the fast Dome is a good idea IMO.
I didnt think that way till about 10 minutes ago.

Like Drewgirl suggested: Jamo out, Hendo back and Waite and Casboult forward targets/ruck. What's the big deal?

Watson I would like to see a whole season to find out if he clicks.
Ive seen enough of White McInnes and Rowe to know theyre not the future and not convinced Bootsma is a backman.
He's a forward.

Go Blues

Absolutely no chance. We will be 0-5 and come Monday sticks will issue a media release acknowledging this but pleading for us all to stick fat.

Might as well play Watson. I don't think he'll make it either but what's the other options?

The list is poor, we might as well give these kids a chance to prove themselves. The other option is play players that are past it or useless.

Time play Hendo in defence and build a defence around him, Docherty, Buckley & Tuohy.

Leave Waite in the 2s. He was dropped and he didn't play well enough to come back in.

Not looking forward to this.
I thought the Dogs would do well this year and so far they are about on a par with us but better.
I think we'll be 0-5 by Sunday night.

Cut loose our center square line , Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Thomas and I'd love see who they'll try to tag.
Hope there're all already to go , Gotta good feel about this one after the darkness cometh the light.
Go Baggers

Right now I'm holding off on who can make it at AFL level and who cant. Simply because its really hard to judge when the TEAM is not having success on the field. I feel that if we were say 4 - 0 and up and about, a lot of these so called duds who'll never make it at AFL level would probably be playing a lot better than they currently are.

Just a theory ...

I'd play McInnes over watson. Before Mac blew his knee out, he at least showed he was afl standard, and maybe back 6 standard in a top 5 team.

He's the guy we need to be putting miles into his legs and letting him play himself into some confidence. imo ...

Watson is a liability doing any other job other than kicking the ball in. The way forward lines are spreading right up into the opposite 50 at times, means watson is obsolete in today's afl ... he isn't mobile enough to go with his man up the ground onto the wings.

Watching him turn on the wings and runback into space with his man once we've coughed up the pill, is like watching a container ship trying to catch a jetski.

Agree!! We are screwing with henderson's development throwing him forward for 10 minutes, back for 10 minutes then rinse and repeat for the entire game.

He needs continuity, and more than anything our backline needs some continuity. He's a better backman than a forward. I'd play waite, but play him in Jamison's man-on role at FB.

Upfront I'd be playing casboult at FF for the rest of the season and throwing walker up front to hep out. Walker's best season was playing forward where he could drift out onto the wings and just run his man into the ground.

Walker, Garlett, Buckley, Casboult and Judd is an alright forward setup if our backs can 'stick fat' ...

I'd like to see Touhy get some heavy minutes in the middle too. He's got the body, mindset, footspeed and disposal to do something more than some of the current mids.

Not a direct go at you BB but that about sums up the attitude that has us in this position.

I want us to strip the club bare, get good people and build a long term sustainable club with long term success and a proactive and positive culture.

Quick fixes achieve nothing.

I would have agreed with you pre season, but I don't think there is a player more out of form at the moment than Zac . But maybe the freedom of not having to lockdown at the moment is the answer.

Id like that too but I wouldn't at the moment. He is really struggling. When he gets back to his best I'd give him some time in the middle to see how he goes.

Actually to expand on that point, has anyone who has attended games this year noticed how much players are thrown around? Even more so than before.

Henderson starts forward, 10 mins later is on defence, then back up forward and so it goes.

The same with Yarran, Simpson, Buckley etc etc.

Surely, for a side lacking confidence and self belief this can't be helping?

Just like to see them settle down into role for a while. Back ourselves in instead of playing to the opposition. Or does MM truly believe our list is that bad he has no choice?
