Sins of the father eh?

I hate his father, but there's a large section of the Carlton supporting public who still love him.

Didn't D Pratt get convicted of something shady AND have one or more mistresses about the place AND have an illegitimate child.

Naturally we view his relatives, currently overseeing the club circling the bowl like a rather large nard, in the same light.

i dont mind tom

hes smart and a clearskin

cant blame him for his dad.

his dad is super smart... but hes run his race.. and there is no way he would ever be allowed to come on board anything run by a mathieson

wouldnt be surprised to see the pratts bring tom on the board.. not sure how he is situated with the mathiesons

Tom may well be a good operator and speaker, but may carry some family baggage. Perception may be a problem too...the way his father was booted out was not pretty.

I think a fresh clean start may be a better option - there are plenty of others that can bring the same things to the table as Tom would. Tom isn't anything special anyway. I don't see the point of him just being a board member in the background. He worked as a fund manager and has a radio show.

We may as well ask Tony barber to run as president or perhaps the other TOny - DeBolfo. or Tony Bennett (at least he can paint and sing)

No, not close to any of them to be honest. Just don't think there's value in revisiting the past when it ended so badly.

You could...but it's not 1981 anymore. You can't just walk in on players in the showers with a bottle of Brut screaming 'Lets Go Shopping!'

why not? wasn't that what Fev was doing?

Fev was a champion match winner, even though he didn't always try his best.

Best player to play for us since Kouta retired

Yeah nah

Judd > Fev

I know we are pissed off with everyone on the list now but Judd is an out and out champ while Fev was a flawed genius.

no flaws with Judd? (chicken wing tackles and pressure points count? Any leadership deficiencies that come to mind? Diesel, when he was skills acquisition coach, thought that Judd could work on his kicking and other skills. Every player has flaws and weaknesses even the champions.)

Fev was a match winner in ordinary teams

I haven't been all that impressed with Judd to be honest. Recognise his talent of course. maybe have been spoilt with so many great carlton players that have bled for the club.

but for me

Fev >> Judd every day of the week

Tom is articulate, smart and is media savy. Would he be able to bring fresh blood on board with him? Would he be able to control those that are currently contributing heavily to the club financially, but in other respects need to be moved on?
It worries me that we will replace sticks with another patsy. Tom is no patsy.

IMO Jack's major failing was bloody minded arrogance.
I don't see that trait in Tom at all.

I wouldn't judge Tom on his dads legacy. That very unfair.

If you read article properly, Tom states he's not interested, but will watch closely and see how things unfold in the next few weeks. That to me is composure. Something that's a rare commodity at board level, particularly at Carlton.

He will not declare his hand publicly as others have, he may strike behind closed doors, which may or may not be successful. Keep it out of the media!!!

Lets wait and see.
