....the YCP will save the Club

they will know what to do - they have been anointed by our supreme Board directors...

they are YOUNG, carlton members and above all have a degree from a University...

its our only chance now....

Swann has exhausted his recruitment genius from the collingwood football club, now we must go forward all by ourselves

arm in arm with the YCP

I'm a member of YCP.

Im definitely not elitist - unless you call working for a state government instrumentality as elitist.....(yeah sure it is a Liberal government at the moment but that could change in Nov. And I'm 42 years old in July so not a Gen Y.

Believe me when I say I am a nobody when it comes to having any sort of influence at the club. Never have never will.

Why did I join? Why not? It's a bit of fun, get to go to some functions, meet people, talk footy. So what's the harm people. We're spending our own money to join a supporters group.

Don't take everything so serious.

And don't bag people who are willing to try new things.

In 3 years I'll cease being a member and that's it.........so what. Personally the YCP committee should be congratulated in getting off their arses and doing something positive. And I couldn't give a rats if they have an agenda or not.

Well done to them.

The first thing one should look at....

it helps understand what's driving them, their motivation.

(exclusivity based upon age, and whether someone happens to have a University degree is a very regressive and counter productive mechanism of achieving goals within an organisation. All modern organisations, whether they be corporate, private or government, understand that inclusiveness is one the keys to a happy workplace and guess what? You get far better results, and efficiency. I would like to see regular reports made by the YCP made available to members either via a web site or via the club, that outlines their activities and contributions. I may even join. But I cant at the moment because I dont know the nature of their agenda)

Yeah, it's a bit hard for me to get my head around the whole YCP thing when (as well meaning as it may be) I just see it as symptomatic of the mindset that is holding this club back. If, at the pointy end of the membership of the group, it's designed to allow a small number of relatively privileged people to exert influence then it's really just a reflection of the current culture that (IMO) is disastrously out of synch with what's required to excel as a club.

Within a club culture that is far more inclusive, I think something like the YCP could be a positive. At Carlton, it's just more of the ****ing same, except younger.

They seem to have opened themselves to criticism because of the lack of information and communication regarding their underlying agenda and the limitations on who can join.

If say they were a group which said "we jsut want to raise funds for the club" or "we want to improve the image of the club" or "enhance membership" etc, then I dont think anybody would have an issue

But the Young Carlton Professionals sounds a bit vague to me

more details please

clear agenda outlined....

Too much more of Mick and we won't have any young supporters to start anything.

As for the YCP I would have thought the last thing this club needs is another group suits mixing with the established groups of suits.

The backslapping, tyre pumping and smoke blowing (up each others rectums) probably won't achieve much.

Please tell me these people aren't descendants, offspring or relatives of the leeches that are currently sucking the life out if the place.

Any club that would have me as a member isn't worth being a member of.

Terance spells his name funny... because its trendy to misspell and name....
Yes they all have a uni degree are young professionals.. are passionate about the club and determined to do something....
Theyre setting up another bubble executive .
Future leaders of this club... dont worry... no agendas that means anything. So youw ont see anything sustainable or meaningful...
Just that theyre young and connected.

JK i do respect your passion... but this will mean jack shit unless u give us a meaningful overview of what it is youre trying to do.....

I have a hunch about what they are trying to do for themselves - seen it before

Like you I am more concerned about what their purpose and goals are for the carlton Footbal Club

If I knew I may even consider becoming involved in some way.

I am generally a positive person when it comes to new initiatives that have genuine motives and are needed at the time...

For those who aren't interested in joining it, don't. No reason to shit all over it because you're disenfranchised by the club itself though. Supporter groups like this are common. It's not like its the only option available to you. Don't like what it stands for? Join an alternative or start your own group.

Fair call!

Here's my group...

Carlton - Complete Amateurs

No prerequisites for membership.

No need for Daddy to sign your form.

No age limitations.

What chance we'd have of achieving anything vaguely useful for the club when we're a collection of people from all walks of life is anyone's guess but hey, who knows?

Cecil... just a question.

what are your key performance indicators or is it just a bubble youre getting defensive about?

were wondering what initiatives and agendas you blokes are getting together.

with everything there must be a point.. so whats the point of this group...

or is it just a reflection on the club and its numerous non point initiatives???

is it a group that does what exactly?
or is it like the freemasons and its secretive etc???

doing the goat sacrifices with cloak thinggy???

just interested ....

Look Mr S, desperate times call for desperate measures...

We should at least try new things before they are dismissed outright
