I think there needs to be some lateral thinking about this subject, not necessarily visionary. It wouldn't take too much to shift the use of Visy to a more widely used cultural and social hub.

There's already some parking there. And the setting is spectacularly pretty in the parklands around the club buildings themselves. Why is it not possible for the club to apply for reasoning or trading permits to set up cafés and restaurants close to the club but with outlooks towards the parklands? Use the Carlton Football Club as a showcase for the best Carlton has to offer in regards to the Carlton eating and cafe scene.

And from that, the club could also be used as an events venue from conferences to weddings.

Why not also apply to be able to have a late night trading food and music venue? Make the club a foodie location, with great music from jazz through to rock, much like Lizotte's which has a reputation for great music and food.

On second thoughts, sounds like too much hard work......
