All this talk of Carlton in crisis - bloody media, typical sensationalism.
I don't see a crisis. Yes we are in trouble, but crisis? The guys are finding it hard at the moment, that's all. A crisis to me is the plane carrying our team to WA crashed - that's a crisis! We're out of form, and confidence is at an all time low. That isn't a crisis. Yes its bad, no argument there, but the media is in a frenzy milking our misfortune of zip and 4 for everything its worth.
Hopefully cooler heads will prevail through all this and every week we step out onto the field we get another opportunity to improve. I'm not buying into this media fabricated crisis one bit. Its not like this is an entirely new situation in AFL history. Heaps of teams (good teams) have found themselves in slumps like this over the years. They did all they could do, persisted and worked through it until they got it right. Often times things were said like "back to basics" and "fundamentals of the game" were focused on in order to get things back on track. Its happened before, it's happening to us right now.
I see light at the end of the tunnel. This could well work out to be a blessing in disguise for us IF it works out. Going back to the basics as a unit, as a team, getting them right and building from there. It doesn't take much for things to turn around, especially when its between the ears. Good form and winning games is infectious, just as bad form and down on confidence is. But its not a fitness thing, its not a game plan thing, its not for lack of want or effort. When your down, your down. When your flat, your flat. That's all I see happening. Not some crisis the media is spewing forth. The effort of the boys looks terrible. But I don't think the lack of effort has anything to do with game plans, divisions in the team, or anything the media is trying to drum up. The team is bereft of confidence, they are flat, and its showing.
I still think we can make finals and surprise the football world. They get every week to get back out there and improve. Its funny, but the media are going ape droppings over this yet everything I've heard from Carlton is pretty spot on. No one is freaking out, they understand exactly the predicament we are in at the moment. The media is baiting, fishing, anything to milk this for all its worth. The Carlton haters are loving every minute of it too. Too bad McClure is buying into this nonsense, he should have more respect than that. But then again, he too is now a media whore I guess ...
All its going to take is hard work, persistence and patients until the boys claw their way back into a winning mind set. A bit of luck along the way wouldn't be bad either, who knows. But as far as I'm concerned I don't see any crisis at Carlton. The only crisis I see is a media fabricated crisis of their own making. That's not to say everything is rosy. Zip and 4 is unacceptable. Down right deflating and embarrassing. But far from a crisis of the magnitude the media is fishing for. Here's to hoping the boys can get it together before the season is well and truly over.
I applaud positivity but when is it a crisis? How bad does it have to get? The worst kicks in the league - probably again... I think they said thirteen picks of 12 or under and yet we get this year in year out. It isn't even trending the right way.
Nothing personal to you but I see a huge pile of muck. In fact I smell a big pile of muck too. In all my years I've never felt this low about the Blues.
BTW, isn't McClure a premiership captain? Calling him a whore when he loves the club so much and gives his time freely is a bit rough.
