i believe we will be favourites... but that doesnt mean we will win it.
this team goes to water when its challenged
i remember the pagan side one season get smashed by 100 points and next week come out and win..this team doesnt have that kind of spirit.
its been pampered
they have been told how good they are

even at club functions the elite ones cant be arsed sitting with sponsors
often they dont talk and look for any opportunity to move away ....

i know people its happened to.
thy hate being dragged along to functions

u can sponsor them but dont ask them to so anything for u...

theyre just so benign and it shows in their performances

So help me god if we win, and the players prance around like the front runners they are.

I will issue a fatwa.

Can't you just see Yarran streaming in to kick a goal after three bounces and high fiving all around like we've just hit the front in the last quarter of a proper game?

Not sure what would be more vomit inducing, a win or a loss.

Melbourne are setting themselves for this game...
They know we re low on confidence and they can take a scalp if they play to their potential.
Lowly clubs always do this against us because we re mentally weak.
The Saints and the Dogs did it to us last year....
Port and Gold Coast the year before....
Wont be surprised to see us stuff this one up.....

In:
Scotland- one of/if not our most efficient kick
Docherty- might be underdone but he was picked up for his disposal and its much needed
Cripps- he's is the future & preseason/first VFL game is evidence enough, he loves the contested footy which majority of last weeks team severely lack
Graham- ball magnet that hasn't had a quiet game yet, deserves a full game not sub. Stood up last week when the team needed someone.
Casboult- he is the only KPF on the list and needs to be persisted with in 2014.
Temay- 4 goals, 8 tackles for a small fwd, that's Garletts whole preseason and first 3 games in total.
Cachia- hard as nails. Solid preseason

Out:
Rowe- never going to be a good AFL player. Why persist.
Robbo- needs a break, he's butchering it weekly. A liability
Curnow- Carazzo can tag, Curnow isn't damaging.
Garlett- needs to earn his spot, prove something in the VFL
Bell- similar to Robbo, hunts the pill but too often turns it over
Tuohy- same as Garlett, come out in 2014 half the player
White: doesn't do enough apart from the odd third man up punch.

On notice: Warnock, Walker & Waite

Bucks. Jamo. Docherty.
Scotland. Everitt. Simmo.
Thomas. Murph. Gibbs.
Yarran. Henderson. Walker.
Menzel. Waite. Casboult.
Warnock. Carazzo. Cripps.
Graham. Temay. Ellard. Cachia.

Wouldn't it be a little strange bringing Scotland in? He is our oldest player at 33. You don't play these types when you're in desperate need of a rebuild.

Melbourne are not in a position to Win games of Footy.... So we will win this one comfortably, however history keeps repeating itself and this group of players never learn from their past mistakes, because often after an easy Win, they get ahead of themselves and get embarrassed the following week.

What I am referring to is the next game against the Bulldogs. This is the game that will prove if we are going to rescue our season or go down like sore losers....

The next 3 Games are all Winnable if only they play with an effort and commitment

Season defining game? We all know what happens in those games, don't even dream of winning one of those!!!

There is a bigger Issue with our team that not many on TC has brought up, which is the Fact that this Season and also some parts of last Season, We have become a 12 goal a game Team. We are badly struggling to kick more than 12 goals a game, even when we Win, we are not kicking any score beyond that!!

The Issue is not the Forward line. With players like Waite, Henderson & Gartlett, we should be kicking a lot more goals....

The Real issue is the fact we are getting Smashed in the center bounces and in the middle by a Ratio of 80-20%. That is massive and it explains why we can't compete. Almost 80% of our Goals have to be constructed from the backline and often from a behind kick in. Having players like Cripps and Judd back will change that ratio. We need to change our structure in the middle. No more Murphy or soft players in there. We need to Win the footy and start kicking Fast Goals.

Another thing which complicates our deficiency to kick goals is MM's style of play in which he likes to play Wide and with short kicks until a Forward ends up marking it in the Pocket and with an Impossible task of kicking a Goal. We are not skilled enough to kick goals from tight angles. Going Wide will not help us. We need to go back to playing basic Footy. Kick it Long and play on at all costs. Do not mark, stop and chip chip. This killed us all of this year!!!

FFS DO NOT KICK IT LONG IF they have one or even two loose men behind the ball....do not kick to a contest if it is two on one...that's not a contest. Chip chip chip when this is occurring ...I have no problem with that ...sorry Dodo.

We were smashed last week kicking it to seriously outnumbered contests...then your stuffed as they have it in space...there are times you must chip it around...you MUST ALWAYS ATTEMPT to keep possession. You should NEVER kick to a contest when an uncontested possession is an option....and a a few other things which need to be drilled into the players. As soon as you see possession footy played against you...MAN UP

Coming out of the middle and kicking long to a one on one in the forward 50 I have no problem with....

If possession footy and man on man only gets scores of 80 points or less ...then so be it.

Bill, our team is not capable of possession footy. We do not have the skills to play that style...How many times did we Turn it over by just chipping it short? We can't even kick it 20m out in front....We have the worst Kicking team in the comp.

Opposition teams in the last 3 rounds all have played spare Men behind the ball and they killed us but the question is, where the heck was their opponents? and what were our Spare men doing? they were no where to be found. Its Dump Football. We need to Man up every spare defender and kick it long 50-50 and Create a contest!!

The other option which we have not been doing is play on at all costs and keep the game running. Possession football is suited for teams like hawthorn and Freo... not us

we havent been drafting players that can mark or kick under pressure to play the possession game
we cant even run hard to create options

were unskilled and lazy

shits me to tears

Bull....I'm talking about possession footy guys...kicking to the FIRST free option . So you get the odd error...so what! Players can hit targets when not under pressure,...anyway...it's academic as we're not learning anyway....wrong thread BUT Synbad, Dodo et al....choose how we'll play and get players who can play it....
Contested footy?
Okay..we have Robbo and Judd and then a bunch of soft cocks....
High marking? Who the hell do we have?

We don't have players for what we want to do...because for the most part I don't know what we want to do...anyway, as I said...wrong thread,...but we'll see what happens this weekend

Bring in the Changes MM.... Anything less than 3 changes is not Acceptable.... Some players must pay the price and go back to the VFL until they learn how to put their hearts and souls for the Jumper they wear!!!

We will win this. You know why? Cause we are flat track bullies. Always beat up on the weaker teams. Funny thing is with that is we will pat ourselves on the back like we just took down Goliath. Good one boys!!!!

I wouldn't drop Jeffy just yet. Since Eddie's gone he's got the best small defender each game. He goes they go to Menz, not an ideal situation for a kid.

We should win given our circumstances and availability of players.
But it will not be a walk in the park, and it will take a focused team effort showing some pride in the jumper.
Next few week's game against the Dogs
will be a better barometer of how the team has reflected and responded to the absolute thrashing and domination at the hands of the Bombers.
Melbourne will be a much better team mid season.

Still not convinced we ll win...
Don't forget, as bad as Melbourne were last week, WE WERE WORSE!!!
If we get off to a bad start again, doubts will creep in, erros will multiply, and the same story will unfold....
