He has damaged us more than any other employ could ever do. Not Sticks. Not Swan. Not the controlling board.

He had his own agenda from the start that has hustled everyone but it has truly now come to light.

I was wrong I thought he had us playing crap footy so he can pretend to turn over the list and then call it his team but that's not good enough for his ego and selfishness he wants to dry us dry.

Many have said from the start that Mick is only for Mick, well here it is for all to see and we continue to assist him in destroying our club from within. :screwy:

All that remains is to see if we are stupi enough to falll for it.

The book tour said a lot straight up about Mick's priorities

Im happy for you to enlighten me Jim.

I thought he said we were in the pack of teams vying to push towards top 4 status.

That puts us at about 5-12 on the ladder from where I sit. Our form at the moment is more like 9-15, but it's not like there's nothing we can do to turn that around.

That's what you thought he said, was it?
Go back and check again Jim.

Clock is ticking for hardened Blues, says Malthouse
Quote:
According to his theory, Malthouse projects that clubs who are at 12 o'clock are primed to win a premiership, and says last year's top-four would be within their rights to think they're "between 11 and 1".

The Blues, Malthouse said, were within the next batch of clubs clamoring to join them in that range.

"The rest of us, and we're one of those, we're caught in that bracket…are we approaching 11 o'clock? I would say that we're approaching 11 o'clock," Malthouse said on Saturday.

"But I think there's a lot of sides approaching 11 o'clock.

"Part way through the season we've got to say, well, some sides aren't near [that], and we want to be progressing through 11 o'clock.

"And I don't see any reason why that can't be the case. I haven't got a crystal ball but we've got a very good blend of senior players and we've got a good blend in the middle."

not really.. says alot about our management

if you believe its a mistake... u blame management

he had a commitment to his family... he was going to keep it
they always knew that

if u give a commitment to your kids as a parent and ur starting a new job and tell them you commited yourself to your kids 21st or whatever... and they accepted.. does that prove youre not committed??
if the club didnt like it you dont go ahead and sign him

mick did the right thing..

family commitments >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else

hes a family first man.. always was....

the rest is bullcrap!!!!... and just stupidity and rationalising where were at
weve been shit for a long time...
weve done everything shit for a long time

all u had to do is ask me.... and i could have told u....

i just didnt wanna bring it up.... you see i was aftraid

but we look for scapegoats... now its the book tour...
as if we werent [REDACTED] before the book tour
as if the club didnt know about the book tour...

just hilarious .. the excuses and stupidity people that cant see what has been an ongoing grind into the ground ... finally have gotten around to the horrific state the club is in..
and are trying to narrow things down to one or two small things

the club is in a bad way all over the place

i often used the analogy... if u see a cockroach in the kitchen.. you can bet yur bottom dollar there are heaps hiding under the floorboards

wake the hell up and get interested in your club... and dont just follow the dishonesty it sprouts

they're both culpable

And settle down as well. I am not stupid. I appreciate you have a good grasp of what’s happening at the club but don’t be an arrogant flower about it.
I agree that the entire joint is fundamentally flawed and mediocre. You won’t get any argument from me in that regard. This thread is primarily about Mick and that was one thing that rankled me at the time and if I had any say in the matter it would never had happened. Extremely poor message.

Generally speaking, the problem with Carlton is that there are so many flaws it can seem overwhelming deciding what facet or area to target first. Up top would be the best place to start but with so many insincere influences surrounding the club you almost feel that it would just continue to be tainted

mm cant be culpable about the book tour if he has committed thos his daughter.. the club cme along and make an offer.. he tells them when he starts and they agree.

if this kills the club he cant be held responsible
he told them all along when he can start... if he had lied thats a different matter... if he held that info back thats a different matter

mm didnt come to us.. we went to him
of course he has plans and family commitments

im not trying to put u down... but i seriously cant believe people bring this up as his fault

family >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything else in life

but the club have a responsibility to weigh the info up and decide on it.

they thought it was ok.. so mick is clear.. if its harmed the club... the management.. sticks/ board .. ceo and andy mckay are responsible.

thats all there is ......

he had told them he does not start till a certain date... just like anybody starting a new job or any job would say...

or if ur services are needed.. and u say not on that date blah blah blah.....
and they agree....

how is it your fault???

I get that and the club giving the all clear was the only green light he needed.

However, it is also an issue of priorities. Did Mick have the opportunity to amend the book tour? Bring it forward to align with his responsibilities as head coach? If these options were available and not taken, then his commitment can be questioned. I understand family comes first but this is not a punch-card Monday to Friday job, this is elite sport where sacrifices need to be made

Otherwise, this really is only but a trivial part in the grand scheme of failures at PP…

the book tour was a lock in a year prior.
At this point MM had no idea what would happen.
His priority was to his family as it should be.... we cannot ask any more of mick as far as his priorities go as what we would do ourselves.

family should always come before work . especially when commitments are made

Thats just how it is.. and he told them that from their first discussions

i know cretylus would always have done the same thing personally too

family >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> work

im not too sure why its different for a footy club.....

hes made a commitment.. he kept it.

to me it shows the guy is a stand up guy....

i wouldnt wanna guy who turns his back to his family running my club ....

yep, couldn't agree more. Poor start to an appointment. Imagine Daisy thomas asking to miss the first two weeks of the preseason because he needed to go to Disneyland or work on a new horse that he is co-managing with his brother?

I am more disappointed in the club for not demanding ALL hands on deck, for the start of the preseason on November 1st 2012.

As far as Mick Malthouse is concerned I suspect it was a deliberate political ploy to show carlton who is in charge - and at the start of the 2012 preseason the MAN was Robert Wiley...

Costly book tour. Whoever you want to blame for it.

I blame Mick for taking on a gig that he wasn't fully committed to. I blame those who offered him the gig also.

how is it a ploy when he was committed to it for many months ????

Mick was also committed to retirement and to the media...

circumstances change....Not many opportunities arise to coach a club in the AFL.

He could have done many things - postpone the book launch for a few weeks, handle it differently, attend preseason for 1 week to get things rolling then go on the critical self promotional literally tour

I dont know what agreements Mick or his manager made with Carlton, but one would think that his contract would officially commence at the start of the 2012 preseason.

But this is carlton, and it doesn't surprise me that Mick was given a 2 week leave of absence even before he started as head coach.

this has NEVER happened before to my knowledge at any club. Another first for carlton

there are some holidays during the preseason.

when did Roos go and for how long?

Roos was present at the start of the preseason though.

All hands on deck for the start of the new assault for a flag

(and besides I dont give a Flower what the demons do and what the great game wrecking master coach Roos does. I am only concerned with the Blues. Why did we tolerate this shit?)

The book tour isn't the reason we are down the drain - not a good look and board showed how desperate they were in getting malthouse to deflect criticism of themselves by appointing him on any terms
Board is culpable here pulled the trigger on Ratts early to try and get the messiah -blues always have had messianic complex whether it be harris barrassi pratt judd pagan malthouse and in the modern AFL it DOESNT WORK - team hasn't gone well under malthouse lets be honest but we have him now and usual stupid knee jerk reaction at carlton is usually to take the coaches head off - decision has been made lets stick to it and let him rebuild with Docherty cripps graham Holman and anyone else that shows promise

Mick's book tour was in October.

Here is a picture of Mick on November 5th from the Carlton Facebook page

We went to Arizona on November 11th 2012 http://flagstaffsportsmassage.wordpress.com/events/

I agree it was poor management to allow Mick to go on the book tour in October as he missed the trade period, but can we please stop claiming he missed preseason in November.
