One criticism of the club I do agree with is the marketing and PR area. The Brand has taken a major hit in the last 4 years and every opportunity should be taken to improve it. As you all know Crown Princess Mary is a Carlton supporter and she just had a baby boy. The Australian media is going absolutely berserk about the Royals.

So what better chance for free positive PR then making the new Prince an honourable “No. 1â€

Surely the club must be aware of this.

Just e-mailed the club. Based on their track record of media management they would never think of this themselves.... let's see if they will do it.

They would do well if they had a good alternate guernsey too, but that is nowhere to be seen as well.

not exactly marketing for the masses, but a good idea none the less, is what richmond is doing a couple of days before the draft in their boardroom.

they are holding a predraft get together for about 20 members (first come first served) . greg miller and the recruiting staff are apparently doing a video presentation of the possible draftees followed by some discussion.

cant see any reason why we couldn't do the same. it would keep some members happy and also bring in much needed $$$ to the club.

No rendezvous with royal ex-girlfriend

NOW she's married into Danish royalty, Mary Donaldson's old boyfriends won't be counting on any calls when the princess returns to Australia on a royal tour.

Crown Princess Mary, the Tasmanian-born former Sydney real estate agent, this weekend begins a tour of her homeland with husband Crown Prince Frederik.
Before she met Frederik in Sydney in 2000, the then Mary Donaldson had a brief relationship with Sydney Swans footballer Ryan O'Keefe, who today was playing down any prospect of a reunion.

"No, I'm not planning to catch up for coffee," O'Keefe, 24, said today when asked about his former flame.

"That (relationship) happened a while ago and that's in the past."
Crown Princess Mary will add a touch of glamour to a series of social events and black-tie gatherings during her 12 days in Sydney, two in Canberra, a brief visit to Melbourne and two days in Hobart, where she grew up.

Mikkey if they do organise something they should contact Geoff McClure at The Age - mad Carlton supporter and one of his columns had a nice picture of Mary in a Carlton jumper.

Mikey to be honest I would rather we didnt get involved with that type of thing.

Today on the front page of the Herald (website anyway) an 8 yo Carlton supporter was killed by a car he ran in front of playing street cricket. The young fella is going to buried with a CFC footy and the coffin draped in our flag. This article highlighted the need for parents to consider donating their childrens organs to help others survive even though they may be grieving.

I would rather see the club send a few players to his funeral and highlite community awareness for organ donation than raise its profile with some meaningless minor celebrity.

Perhaps call them or take the time to head out to OO and talk to them about it?
