Pros:

Simmo and Jamo.
Carazzo's first up performance.
Yarran and Menzel.
Murphy works hard. Gibbs looked a little more interested.

Cons:

Just a feeble performance. Hope that's not a sign of things to come. Or it's going to be a very, very, very long season. Almost looked like the final year under Ratten, where the players looked like they'd lost complete confidence in the coach.
Inability yet again to kick goals from set shots.
Clearances in our defence were woeful.
Walker's form has been average to say the least since pre-season started.
Garlett has been invisible.
Ellard has been reasonable. But he's almost certainly too small/slow to play as a defensive small forward.
Robbo looked lost in the first half. Don't know if he's struggling with the reprogramming. 2nd week in a row where he's had no impact on the clearances. Not quick enough or smart enough or skilful enough to play just as a midfield linkman.
Goddard taking cheap shots.
Those horrible pleated shorts we were wearing.

There's your result. Simple as that.

Or

Our forward line was slow as a wet week.

Yes, click on the links above

Can't see any area on the ground we can beat them in with the possible exception of tap outs and clearances.

Our midfield is chock full of plodding slow mids. If they can get their running game going it will require the mids and defenders to have an outstanding defensive game. Can't see them having the tenacity and mindset to be able to absorb that kind of pressure.

If we do manage to somehow be patient with defense and attack on the rebound we don't have the cattle up forward to capitalise. Last week when our run got going and we went for shorter more deliberate kicks to players on the half back/wing area rather than bomb it long we still got up to about half forward and then just stopped running.

At best it'll be low scoring dour win to them otherwise it'll be a thrashing.

MAybe I should be coach then.

The first time I have changed the channel and watched something else.

Waste of time, I am tired of the last 20 years of shit.

I have doubts coach MM will help us, and the player certainly wont. Can't switch coaches again, it is becoming a laugh.

We need to make players pay for their shit and drop them, give them notice, trade them.

Gibbs s not work any more money. If he doesn't sign for a modest increase he needs to piss off.

The bit that got me was watching Menzel carry on after kicking a goal when we were already 8 goals down..........came across as an absolute tosser.....hope we don't see that again.

VFL clashes with AFL on saturday. Where certain players play next week will determine which one I go to. Over to you Mick.

Pissweak, insipid football. Never had a crack, never looked like having a crack. Too slow, too weak, too unskilled, too unintelligent. Hands on hips on the mark, loose opponents everywhere, too cute butchering the ball around, crapping their daks every forward 50 entry, shirking shots on goal, turnover merchants, panic bombs into the forward line. Dumb, dumb football. Sam Rowe was a deer in the headlights, so lost...will be delisted. Murphy did a little but was tagged out of it, Gibbsy got the ball but mainly easy touches. Menzel had a reasonable game but too many down and out again. Carrazzo topped our clearances first game back after being on the sidelines for 10 years injured. 3 goals minimum directly against Tuohy, he's lost it. Chapman dismantled us - if he gives the cheats a Waite-esq 12 games this year he'll have returned his salary threefold. Proven match winner and he's at the end of his career - we have nothing even close of any age. Walker is diabolical right now. Jeffrey who? Essendope uncontested possessions through the roof and low tackle count. Garbage. No answers tonight and no real positives. Bring in Casboult for Rowe next week and bring Graham in. Had a great view from Premiership Club, level 2 Southern Stand...too bad there was nothing good to see.

Kernahan is, with all due respect, a dinosaur. He is unable to articulate a vision worth following.

As much as Gibbs isn't performing, he has a point. What is the vision for this club?

It's despairing.

Port had a total cleanout.

We tinker around the edges

Youre not going to go places with our set up off field.

Thing is he got some of his buddies over to help him along with Thomas who is overrated and Wood who is crap. Micks time is up. Eddie realised it and we didn't. 2.8 mill for 3 years. What a joke

But synners this was orchestrated by our narrow minded board
As you know that is where all this shit starts from

I pray today that someone like a Swan McKay puts a ticket together to challenge those flower empty suits
Until that happens I have little interest

swan wont do that..hes a nice guy who doesnt want a shit fight.

what these guys have succeeded in doing is this
a) they have shored themselves up with numbers and names
b) they have created a complete disconnect with carlton public

so both inwards and outwards this club has some kind of caste system elite and from there goes down

and therefore as a very narrow inclusion base

it has no soul...
its a bubble

theyre in a bubble
the players are in the bubble

and were a zillion miles from being a serious club

sticks remember mate... u told people we will make the top 4 this year.. they doubted u.. but u reassured them....
and your mate lee... reckons we dont need a review .. everything is going well...

thats living in a bubble talk right there...

in all this people are jostling for position....the trophy is the persidency

but u can bet your bottom dollar he will come from within the board

smart people wont enter that environment unless there is a cleanout

and that means the portrait must go as well!!!

who the @#$%&! will come in from outside into the bubble???

if anyone does he isnt the right person and will fail...

its what happened to melbourne mid 60s and richmond... early 80s

the bubble mentality

Good on Bucks for standing up to Goddard's trash.

Shouldn't have been left to a 175cm, 3rd gamer.

last night was a good example of what happens when you sit on your laurels, overestimate your abilities, not prepared to do the hard yards, quick fix mentality, delusions of grandeur, cultural issues etc etc etc.

it's a terrible situation

why the heck did we recruit Thomas and Everitt, and not focus on building young depth through the club

why did we make Kreuzer and Gibbs untouchables

why have we persisted with those average rookies in our team

why have we still got a President masquerading as a President

why did we choose ordinary players in our top 150 of all time

because we are a basket case and in dire need of a proper independent review

Essendon* have done exactly the same as we have with Goddard and Chapman. Thomas and Everitt aren't the problem. Lasts night's result was better than being beaten by 2 goals. A massive kick up the arse is what we needed - just a shame it was the cheatahs that gave it to us.

there is no comparison

Everitt has been an average player his entire career

we are in no position to top up our list when it is in a shambles

we need to do the hard yards and start again

Tell Mick that he is coaching to develop young kids now and that his contract will not be renewed... He won't make the end of the year and we will settle for the fraction of the price

how does it feel to know you have bottomed out.
won 3 wooden spoons
picked up a swag of early picks
won 2 elimination finals
and now bottoming out again?

its more than players
recruitment
coaches

its the club

they can change the recruiter to appease us end of year
or the ceo

but its everyone

were all in the blue bus together....
you go to open the door but its stuck

there is no getting out....

Image

the driver says youre not getting out... and dont worry we know the path
