Hinkley has Koch.

David Koch > Stephen Kernahan. Koch may not have played at the top level but he's no mug, he's passionate but he has a vision and he has belief.

Kernahan is, with all due respect, a dinosaur. He is unable to articulate a vision worth following.

As much as Gibbs isn't performing, he has a point. What is the vision for this club?

It's despairing.

We're officially Richmond. A season and 3 games in and we turn on the coach.

He didn't recruit Rowe, Ellard, Bell, Curnow, White or Tuohy or even Robinson. Try hard plodders the lot of them. That's 1/3 of our team! Plodders! Nothing special about them. Can't hit targets, miss easy goals, fumble, drop chest marks.... We recruit these guys and then we blame the coach?

I f that were true,
then Hinkley could not have turned around the rabble that was Port.
Generally seen as hopeless by all fans and other clubs.
I reckon the coach HAS to take quite a bit of responsibility for this.

hinkley has a shitload more to work with

they have recruited so much better than us

ports list shits all over ours

I can't recall anyone saying that in 2012, when port were almost in receivership, and had the AFLs poorest list. The basket case of the afl.

They came out in the 2013 season and won their first 5 games, under Hinkley. Almost made the preliminary final after pushing the cats in their final.

I recall asking many people whether they thought ports list was better than Carlton's at the start of 2013, and not one thought they were.

This should tell us something about our club and its culture over the past decade.....

hinkley is doing a great job but we would kill for some of ports players

Sad to see people saying they don't care anymore. I care and I care deeply, I was born Carlton and I'll die Carlton. I sometimes wish the club didn't mean as much to me as it does but, there is nothing I can do about it. Winning gloriously or losing ignominiously they're my team and I'll always support them. Carlton has given me so much pleasure over the years, for which I will always be grateful. I just wonder if I'll live long enough to see another flag.

I didn't expect a win tonight. At lunch today with friends I was asked how I thought we'd go, I replied that we'd get flogged. My definition of a flogging was 40-50 points though. What an optimist!

There's a 30 year coach running the show.

I might expect him to have some idea. .

But MM said in the post match conference that he didn't see this coming?

The Board certainly didn't see this coming.

It came half way during the 3rd and the entire 4th quarter against Port
It came during the entire first half against Richmond
It just kept coming tonight

FFS ....... Most of the people here saw it coming

Looks like Port players would kill for Hinkley.

MM not so much.

This type of performance has been on the way since 2012. We ducked and dived around a few times on the edge of respectably since then but overall the side has been on a steady decline since R4 2012 and it seems that rock bottom is on it's way.

What scares me is that we'll end up beating Melbourne and tonight will all be forgiven and swept under the rug.

I don't want us to win next week.
I think i would actually be more content if Melbourne win than if we win.

That's true....

But when Hinkley took his first pre season as senior coach in 2012, he asked his players to redo a 5 km run they just completed. Told them their attitude and effort was not good enough. Set the tone for the rest of the pre season and they flew out of the box in the 2013 season by winning their first 5 games.

Koshie also said that hinkley was the most honest and inspirational speaker he has ever heard....(after the loss to the cats in last years final).

What did we do as a club on November 1 2012 when our preseason started under Mick?

Well we allowed Mick to go on a book launching tour for 2 weeks and so couldn't even be there at the start of his first preseason.

2012 was wasted (again).

2013, great start (again).

Reality Check has come quicker than I expected for this year....After 3 rounds, I have learned few lessons:

** We have a Serious Culture problem at the Club that extends beyond the Coach and the players. Our Club seems to have been highjacked by the Under-World, too many Crooks running the club. With that, comes arrogance, denial, party time and no real hard workers....

** The Investment in Daisy and what he got paid is looking more and more to be the Scam of the year....Daisy tonight was running on one leg... he couldn't finish the game... I don't think he will ever be the same player again....

** You can not be a top 4 side that is made up of rejects and Rookies. Our team is built around those type of players. Rookies are rookies, their talent has a limit, they can not win footy games on their own...

** It is Crystal Clear that in order for the Club to move forward, the current generation of players needs to be moved on. That includes Gibbs. Even though he was our best player tonight, We can no longer pay him millions to keep him at the club and expect close to nothing in return....Free up some money and Go chase a recognized Forward from the GWS boys.

** Play the Kids and prepare them for the Future. Why the hell is Cripps and holman being held back after 3 rounds??? Get them in, they can win us few games.

A team with substandard skills met a team with upper echelon AFL level skill.

There's your result. Simple as that.

I was trying to remember where I'd seen this shit before.

It's Melb's patented "bruise free" footy.
