I was happy to see MM appointed coach. I thought he could be the one to turn our team into a hard, well drilled, committed outfit. I didn't think we had the players to win a flag, we lacked depth, but with MM in charge in 2013 he would start to turn things around, weed some out, develop others, perhaps make top four in 2014. Then 2015/2016 I could dare to dream of a flag.

I was wrong. The players look confused, lacking in confidence, for better or worse they don't seem to believe in MM, they haven't bought into his coaching. The fact MM trotted off on his book tour worried me. How committed was he? Recruiting Daisy and Wood concerned me, it smacked of nepotism. The playing of unfit/underdone players, a lack of willingness to play and develop promising youngsters, both last year and this year. It seemed like MM was more worried about how he looked why as a coach in the here and now, rather than turning Carlton into a force for the future. And it has all blown up in his face.

He didn't recruit Rowe, Ellard, Bell, Curnow, White or Tuohy or even Robinson. Try hard plodders the lot of them. That's 1/3 of our team! Plodders! Nothing special about them. Can't hit targets, miss easy goals, fumble, drop chest marks.... We recruit these guys and then we blame the coach?

Well tonight pretty much proved that a ruckman who wins every knock out and does nothing round the ground is not worth two draft picks or whatever he is being paid. Clubs fault not Warnocks but he is a last millennium player. The Bombers had no ruckmen and half the time Warnocks hit outs were shared by Daniher or Carlyle. Warnock dominated the ruck and was utterly ineffective.
