What's everyone's thoughts about Nick Stevens not making it? He fits criteria.

I didn't think twice about it - but they were calling up talkback radio all day complaining.

Three Top 5 B & F finishes put him ahead of quite a few of them....

Can't believe how amateurish this effort is. Bret Thornton? Are they serious? Get [REDACTED].

How the hell did Jack Baker miss out?

I haven't seen the list. Building up courage, but get the drift.

Stevens >>>>>Thornton and some of the names who've made the cut

They're pissing on history now. Reaffirms to me what I said a while ago....the club died about a decade ago.

Here's my take....I've been going each week since 67 and have maybe missed one or two live games each year in Melbourne since then...so I reckon I can speak with a bit of authority as opposed to those who, for whatever reason, don't actually go to the footy....from that list, it's pretty clear that there is an under-representation of the earlier years...but that's ok.....Adam Gilchrist is the most dynamic batsman/keeper the game has seen but, due to his birthdate, will never be in a "team of the century"...nor will Chris Judd....that's the problem with these lists...My criteria would have been- if he was in the team on the last Saturday in September, would he have made a difference. Having said that, from my years of following the footy, the following should not be in our top 150:
Matty Allan- had a stand out year in 99 but, we used to call him Mr Gumby. On his overall career, not worthy.
Simon Beaumont- Don't want to be cruel but he might make my bottom 150. Was not a particularly good footballer.
Matthew Hogg- Tried his guts out and was great in 95. Like a lot of fringe players in Premiership sides, was made better by the players around him. Loved him but he aint in our best 150.
If I might digress for a moment- there are a lot of players on that list who, if they had not player in a premiership side, would not be in it. Champion teams can carry some average players.
Mantus- Quality guy and gave his all. Nowhere near our best 150.
Michael Sexton- Luck he had Dean and SOS down back, otherwise he would have been exposed week after week- which he was later in his career.
T-Bird- I know we had lean times but, seriously, if he is in our best 150, the future does not auger well.
Kreuz- When he first started, I thought we had Big Nick reincarnated. My first thoughts were wrong.
Gordon Collis- Only saw him in 67 and he was not good. Know he won a Brownlow, so I'm only going on what I was told from family members. Bloke was a complete nut. Tried to kick out one day and refused to. Had one good season. Brian Wilson won a Brownlow too.

Stevo was easily a better player than any of the above. Vinny C was not.

No mate, Vinny didn't make it....but people on SEN were saying he should have....they obviously didn't see 73GF....having said that, it was always a crazy decision to play him that day......he did have a purple patch (not 73GF-his debut) but generally disappointed.

Perhaps if we had an inclusive Carlton wide Membership voting scenario, rather than restricting it to a small committee which includes a suburban financial advisor/insurance agent we might not have had all these issues.

Thornton and Kreuzer in ahead of Stevens and there is a criteria involved which rules out Buzz?

Think I'll give the whole thing a miss. Doc, I agree with you... They are torching the history of the club.

How about appointing a panel that doesn't have current board members or potentially eligible (i.e.good) players on it?

Where's the planning? The consultation?

What a wasted opportunity.

Amateurs.

The Buzz played some ridiculously dynamic games for us. No doubt about it. He's a dual Premiership player. In most of his games he went missing. Probably bored. He played some great footy but, if he had played between 2002- 2005, would be forgotten...Having said that, if you were lining players against the wall and you had to pick 22 to play on GF day.......damn it, I'd pick him. Would love to see him play on Dean Wallis.

The more I read this thread, the more disappointed I become.

While it really hurts me to say this, I could not imagine the filth stuffing up something like this.

BTW, Hamill was a fine (5 season) player for Carlton, and made much more of an impact than many on that list.

If there's one thing Carlton has, it is its proud history. When people here say that even it is pissed on, that hurts.

Maybe they couldn't find pics of some of the earlier players for this, and therefore left 'em out?

If Neil Chandler makes this list with with 76 games over 7 seasons, yes okay he played in 3 premierships, then Bosustow surely deserves to be in the top 150.

If Bosustow was only a good ordinary player then Neil Chandler was just a player.

Interesting point.

Michael Jamieson should definitely be in...

Not sure about that.

Did Ron Barassi (50 games 1965-1969) not make it because he didn't play for a full five years?
