Outstanding looking jumper. I'd love for it to be our regular jumper and when we need a heritage one we do the one with the yellow yoke.
Too hot her en the topics to wear one so if I buy one it'll have to be for someone else.

My granddaughter is a candidate.

You won't get board support for this in 2014. In all likelihood this jumper won't see the light of day in 2015. Would you accept 2016 with a caveat that the AFL get the final say?

What's the problem? The sooner one/s make the statement the sooner it may get recognized.

People just telling the club that this is what they want. Got a better way? Go for it.

The problem in 2014 is Kernahan. The problem in 2015 is agreements made with Nike. The problem with the petition is it's as amateurish as the 'Fev Rally'. I'm happy to let a few board members and media types know that this is the jumper that the majority of Carlton fans would like to see worn, but this issue isn't going to get resolved on the back of a petition.

Don't bag the Fev rally!

It was awesome.

Perhaps not, but it's a start. If there's enough support the tables will turn.

As harker said, every little step and approach helps.

I'm allowed to disagree right?

I'll post something tomorrow that will make you all see the light. A new way forward for board, club and supporter. An approach to a unified Carlton where petitions don't exist, but decisions are made despite the oligarch reign.

I wish they would wear this jumper for EVERY match this year - how cool would that be??

As soon as I saw the photo in the Hun this morning I started smiling...this was what the team I loved looked like - not the Nike version we have these days.

What a way to celebrate 150 years - let's bring back the true spirit of our glory days!!

You'd be amazed how many times I've heard, from people connected far more than little 'ol me to the club and independent of one another - who say 'Wait until Sticks goes, then we'll get that sort of stuff done'. Kernahan is far from irrelevant. This very same jumper issue has been raised with him personally by members of this site and he's told them they're wrong.

He is so dumb that he doesn't realise that his best chance to leave an amazing and lasting legacy is staring him right in the face. Yet in saying that - if you make him think it was his idea - the chances of him presenting that to the AFL in 2014 for the 2015 season grow considerably.

OK - can you guys clarify the PMs - I'm not sure if we're re-enacting Port Arthur or Black Saturday to get our point across about the jumper?

Tomorrow is Friday right?

Must be massive to announce it then Doc!!!!

It is obvious that there is a very strong opinion of what the jumper should look like from a supporters POV, and the resentment of being left out of the decision to change it, so voicing that opinion by whatever "peaceful" means is better than remaining silent, but yeah, there are other ways to present the voice of members and supporters which is more effective.

I'm sure the louder the response to the new guernsey the better!!!

Cant wait to hear your MASSIVE news Doc!

If I can't click it with a mouse, or tweet it with a link then feel important, then I'm not interested Doc....

It's not news per se...

...anyway - I think Simmo could've toned down the hipster look for the official photos...

You know I dislike the present design more than anyone but getting the proper Carlton guernsey for just three matches is nothing more than a big tease.

Use the margarine, mutated, inferior, hybrid, current design all the time - including the 3 matches set aside for the proper guernsey. I have gotten use to an inferior Carlton product & inferior Carlton team... Why change now for just three matches? I don't get the logic in it.

It is better to be disappointed 100% of the time and accepting of that disappointment than hopeful of something better.
Keep the current sub-standard design please. I hope they can at least wear navy blue though. That would be a step in the right direction. They still wear some bizarre faded blue colour.

One of the (spurious) arguments against using this jumper full time will no doubt be the inconsistency of the monogram in the logo, compared to that on the jumper.

I know that I'm probably in the minority, but I'm still not totally sure whether I want us to return to the retro jerseys full time ....

I'm thrilled that they brought them back for the 150th year as a promotion, but I still have mixed feelings about wearing an old, clunky, design.

Maybe a new, updated, modern version of this jersey that pays more homage to the retro style / notches would be a better compromise.
Adjust the proportions of the letters a bit, maybe ...

I'm with you on that.

I'll have posted a stronger monogram previously, which also pays homage to the 1927-97 monogram.

This is it:

It's essentially a squashed current monogram, but it's far more balanced, stronger looking, and has similar strength and proportion to the 1927-97 monogram
