Not a fan of the thread title. I hate the 'notches' jumper. Worst of the lot. '26-'97 is the one that resonates with most Carlton fans.

I WAS, however, a fan of the jumper on the weekend. That looked to be a proper navy blue. I hope that's the go this season. I saw an interview with Mick and it seems they have the same colour on the polos as well. Which will inspire me to stop past Visy park on my ride next week and pick one up.

Great job by the club to at least get the colour right, even if the monogram isn't fully up to (my preferred) spec. The only issue appeared to be the jumper hitching up around the waist of the players... at least in the first quarter they all seemed to be trying to stretch it back down.

The polos were near black at the end the end of last season, maybe the jumper has now caught up

This is something close to navy blue...I am glad someone worked out what the colour is.

The good old washed out Nike blue.

Two styles of guernseys in the one presentation.

Have a look at Melbourne's Navy Blue, now that's what we should be wearing...That is the colour, after all arent we supposed to be the ol DARK NAVY BLUES?
When I first started to go & watch Carlton 69-70, as a little fella I thought we were all black with white logo lol..
It really irks me when I see us wearing the lighter colour jumpers with the small crappy logo currently.
Lets get back to that old true colour scheme with the larger logo, looks tough & more like the Carlton of old....Go Blues....

I agree 99.99999999%.

Nike is having trouble working out what navy blue is though. Maybe this information will help Nike find out what navy blue is and thereby work out how to put it on the guernsey.

http://www.ask.com/question/what-colors-make-navy-blue

"Navy blue is made by mixing royal blue with two parts super black and two parts violet. Navy blue is a very dark shade of the color blue which almost appears as black. Navy blue got its name from the dark blue worn by officers in the British Royal Navy. "

Regarding the monogram, I have given up on that. I don't believe I will ever see the proper monogram (1920s-97) on a Carlton guernsey again. The executive have made their decision without consultation on that issue, but at least they can get the colour right. Or is that too much to ask?

FWIW the ''executive'' that made the decision to change the monogram was The Elliott Regime.

True. He was a first year Board member in '98 (Apprentice?). not sure how much if any input he had in the change.

Would most interested in his thoughts now though.

I asked him about this at the AGM about 3 yrs ago. He basically didn`t know what i was talking about. Said it was the first time anyone had raised the issue with him.
