u never give reasons for anything....

teagueubeauty.. u loved working when everyone is on holidays too.. thats not the point.

some people wanna force people to work because theyre bored....

they wanna have a holiday.. but other @#$%&! ers have to work to entertain them

nothing wrong with working if you WANT to

clearly camelboy and chucky want people to work when they have their day off... so as they may be amused and tickled.

if the holiday was crapped all together i dont have a problem as i have said all along

so dane.. why is camelboy batcrazy??... ive said why i think he is.. but WHY do you think he is?
i want reasons this time...

you never give reasons... never ever ever...

u realise that right??

most people to choose to not work

some poor flowers like nurses and petrol station attendees work.. but try going to a bank.. or a post office.. or find a plumber for a quote... or micks the lawn mower man...OR YOU!!!... and your mate CAMELBOY!!!... try getting those to work on that day...

Unless you two are going to tell me you get up .. put your suits and tie on and rub the EdC on your cheeks and go to work.... ??

Well do you???? :screwy:

of course essential services like mcdonalds are open...
we need mcdonalds.. how the @#$%&! do you think we can be marshmellows to sit on our arse even on one day a year and scream at people to entertain us.???

................for now.
Draw a line through the natural progression (be it right or wrong but that's another discussion) and you'll find all these places will be accessible every day of the week sooner than later.

Not possible? Wasn't really that long ago that the city and suburbs shut down at 5p.m. on Fridays, Midday on Saturdays and Sundays had no retail open at all.

Care to revisit those days? We'll be saying the same thing about Good Fridays and Christmas soon enough........but then again laws have already begun to be relaxed on those days and if it wasn't for the imposed holiday, how many would honestly care for days thrust upon them to unite with family they probably don't care much for anyway.

Good Friday football thank you.

harks i think u dont count mate.. every day is a holiday for u.... so of course u want something to do with your days if someone can organise some structure for u

though there are some of us who enjoy the free time???

u have to put things into perspective....

if every day is a holiday in your life... youre looking for some structures to occupy yourself with

you dont count.

as for the holiday... each time i check its GOOD FRIDAY

i dont have a problem with you and camelboy and chucky lobbying your local member to stop it from being a holiday.....

but it is Good friday....

i think youre abit confused you guys....

not only dont you know what the holiday is.. but you want everybody to work for you whilst you blokes dont work.

thats just universally wrong
the difference is i dont mind if its not a holiday.. doesnt affect me or how i want my neighbours treated on their holidays

plus i find things to do.

Like dane says .. youre all batcrazy,,,!! id go one step further than that....id call you all batcrazy and selfish plus plus

Nothing to do with holidays and I have no say in the matter. We'll have Good Friday (or whatever we want to call the day in the near future) football sooner than later. End of story.

Get used to it.

harks .. you know im right!

it i about good friday holiday

its a holiday for good friday.. so as its a holiday for good friday.. you treat it like good friday
get rid of the holiday ... everybody back to work.. and then u CAN demand the players work too.

.. and everybody else involved in getting a game off the ground.. but then it wouldnt be the good friday game though would it???

just another friday back to work

u see.. u cant have your cake and eat it too

and that sense of shittiness where people think they can make other people do what they want them to do to enhance their shitty lives .. really shits me.

shits me just as much in its selfishness.. and empty greedy than anything.

go work for my pleasure you dogs!!!.... im bored!!!

yeah it will probably happen.. and yes.. most people dont think about what it actually means..and what it actually does

"Good for business"??
thats [REDACTED]!!!

and also.. the individual sense of entitlement people have today is sickening...

You must please me!!.. you must entertain me.. !!.. do it and do it now!!! :screwy:

Synbad...........now listen.

Good Friday football is coming.........it's coming......it's coming, and nothing that you an I say is going to change it.

Any philosophical argument and finger pointing at people because they're for it, is...........well, someone else can tell you. Sorry.

Haven't they trained on Good Friday in recent years?
Pretty sure they'd rather play than train.

harks i know it will come.. i didnt say it wouldnt...
just saying its created in the minds of some very sad and lonely individuals.. who have already lost the sense of community and relationships who crave for something to do on the very last day of non commercialism and corporate hijacking.
people who have no semblance of peace of quiet and away from what happens 364 other days of the year...
while those of us who want a rest .. to take a step back from the same old same old.. have to be forced to be diverted and funelled in the slippery of slope of corporate dollars and quick fix entertainment..

BUT listen carefully.... your existence will by no means improve as a human being and that of your children will continue to be eroded by 24/7 corporate buzz.

like i said.. this is designed for the socially crippled and the dumb down...

i have no doubt,,, the corporate globalists are busy working out new ways to get you down to new lows..

peoples lives arent better with more days of footy... bigger stadiums and away from saturday footy...
this just takes it further away from time when there was community

young people probably dont understand it... they never knew what it was like to sit around a telly as a family.. or no tv dinners.. or saturday arvo at the footy...

they have no clue..

but just as most of us look at that era fondly... they will look at this era in the same way... as theyre squeezed into an existence of every nook and cranny of their lives consumed by artificial corporate crap manufactured to hpnotise human brains...devoured by a world that doesnt stop feding them instant gratfication.. (at a fee of course)

no human skills.. no sense of community and society... just drones to corporates.

see it already here with examples of yourself and camelboy.... and chucky)...

but i know why u dont like a full holiday..... u just need structure mate!!!... most people who work hard and have the constant corporate buzz all around them every day..want to take a step back ... have a day untouched by it... unless their brain is so fried by wifi waves or boredom...

bread and circus ... bread and circus

u see.. things are always deeper if you can think more deeply

in the meantime... good friday is the last bastion of a commercial free day....

bring it down.. !!! its ok... i know how i always spend it...

Go ride the tiger.. sure it is exciting for a while... up till it flowers u over...

as for carlton making money from this...

pfffffffffffffft.. youre kidding...

there will be no more 2 team fixturing after the Essendon* anzac day debacle..
already they are fixturing THREE games on for Anzac day.. so u dont notice the gloss taken away by Essendon* his year... i reckon infractions will come sooner...

there is no way the afl will fall for that again...

things ARE changing youre right...but not where you think theyre going either.

packed house??? v north???

yep right!!!! :yikes:

blokes are dreaming.....

You're going on about family values and society falling to pieces and you can't even show any respect to the people trying to discuss the topic with you.

Andrew 'Synbad" Demetriou, is that you?

Good Friday is off limits, okay! End of story (though a new thread wouldn't hurt without the hi-jacking)!

Far better to spend your money at a footy match on Good Friday than maybe help out with the RCH Good Friday appeal, one of the most successful ongoing appeals in the world.

It's not just about a religious day that isn't observed by everyone.

I suppose the corporate monster has already turned Easter into non sensical stories about rabbits and chocolatised eggs, and pushed little baby jesus into to the background so the fat coke cola Santa can tell us about snow, reindeers and presents falling into chimneys and long socks.

This corporatised fascist polemic against the basic family unit and the sense of community was won decades ago - they are just dotting some "i's" and "t's" with Good Friday.

Bit like ASADA just tying up some loose ends before they make an announcement.

when youre after slaves to entertain you and also want respect its getting abit rich mate..

BIRDTOWN.. give me something to think about with your debating prowess. Calling me Demetriou just doesnt cut it.....tell me how theyre doing it over at the mighty NRL or something...
i dunno.. say anything even remotely more clever...

Does the same argument apply to Anzac day or Carlton vs Richmond Thursday? Quite a few years ago I was a chef. Working any of the holidays was a given. Monday and Tuesday were my weekend and that suited me and my family well. A day added here = a day off somewhere else. Go to a game on Friday and you have Saturday and Sunday to do something else. "What did you do over the school holidays?" "I went to the footy!"

Where do I start? Tell me how pure in its virtues Christmas really is, tell me?
When you spend all night rummaging through shopping malls to buy kids and adults presents that most will only frown upon..........Gotta love the honesty of Christmas.

How many fattening Easter Eggs are you going to buy for all those that expect something from you and I guess you're forced into doing what most of the sheep do and to pretend that Easter is something it really is not. You're smarter than that..............or else commercialism has got you bluffed.

It's a Friday. Just another F***ing Friday. Just wish we'd stop pretending because others have a bigger picture to service upon the sheep.

That's the point, the commercialisation, materialization of certain spiritual days is near complete.

A person can educate themselves about what Easter actually represents, even if they are not Christian, rather than looking at the tinsel, the chocolate eggs and hopping rabbits.

Same thing applies to christmas, big fat males dressed in red constumes and with fake cotton beards claiming to have aircraft that are powered by a few reindeers flying around the arctic.

Profit, profit, profit....

The idea is to complete the year with days that are essentically indistinguishable from one another. Children cannot identy with even one day that may be considered a special family day. The corporate fascist model does not want any examples for comparison.

We must all be obedient individuals, consumers and never rock the boat.

The basic unit in society is the family and its immediate extensions - these are under assault.

Good Friday is the last frontier - and they will get that too.

Good luck in the future - our progeny will have a lot to deal with, considering the mess we are leaving them....a shallow trivial and almost meaningless existence moving like blind corporate slave puppets.

We will fester like the maggots of Hades, and ye verily we will rot in our own putrid immoral excrement

Even the great doormat cannot save us now

Amen

Yeah but, does Good Friday deserve its apparent status? Many will just answer yes with any further investigation.
We get told to buy Easter Eggs and play bunny hunts and we'll duly comply. But this is a special day that we should..........blah blah blah.
If we were honest we'd have that same spirit about us every day and not just reserved for a date that we're told to reserve "our best" for.

Forget the holidays (Holy Days) and any other holiday for that matter.....be the best of you every day and you'll be glad for the loosening of restraints.

Meaningless existence? You're confused. What's meaningful into buying into anothers' stories? Make your own up if that's the crutch one needs.
Can't we think for ourselves or didn't our good god afford us the courtesy? He can't have it both ways can he?

Anyway, 2015 Easter Footy is coming...........even if it brings Armageddon along with it.

And what's meaningful about that?

There are moves as we speak, by the government to strip back workers entitlements, fought over many decades, over many centuries in other countries. No overtime, no weekend penalty rates, no holiday or night shift penalty rates etc..... Why?

One flat rate which can be driven lower and lower so that profits and ideological control of the workplace can be shifted totally to the owners, the corporatists, the sometime fascist speudo-capitalists......

Why?

Everything to satisfy the real honest hard workers like Gina who is entitled to her $36,000 per minute renumeration package 24/7. She just can't understand why Australia doesn't import third world workers who can work in non unionized Unsafe workplaces for $2 per hour or less....
