I reckon we should just give into his demands for a 3 year contract and keep him anyway.

How about one J. Madden

No seriously once the Commonwealth games are done he might be a little bored and he is popular, good with people and with his players association skills probably good with negotiation and he knows how to laugh.

That's so crazy, it just might work!!

I like this idea a hellavalot!

He would probably have to first move away from being an elected representative for it to work though.

I'm not sure that's such a great idea....

Why not? At least we'd get someone passionate who's priority was the club.

I only realised all of that after I nominated you though :-D

There's a fine line between being passionate and being clinically insane

which side of the line are you on Deano?

There is one outstanding individual who has done considerable work behind the scenes in fundraising, who would do the job and do it brilliantly. He is a high energy person, with great people skills, and strong corporate background. He is a sponsor, owner of meduim sized company which he has built from nothing to the leader in his field. Totally passionate about the club and interested in the role. Does not have a high profile in the media, but would be as good an ambassador as you could get.

Has people lobbying behind the scenes on his behalf but does not want his name publicised unless he is annointed.

Whoever it may be - please none of the current board!!!

If this person is as outstanding as you describe Speedy (and I do believe you) what would stop him from being "annointed"?

My reading is that Collo:

1. Wants to hang onto the job for a while longer yet. He likes the profile, and likes the perks. He will publicly and privately say he will step down when a successor is found - but in reality he does not want anyone to look too hard for a successor at the moment.

2. My feeling is that the person of which I speak does not have the public profile Collo (and a couple of the other board members) want. They believe we need to have a high profile person, who can give the club immediate newsworthyness. I would settle for someone with a plan, with passion, with leadership ability, and who can comunicate.

Surely if this un-named person had a crack and took on Collo, his public profile would soar.
The outstanding qualities you say he has would then give him a very good chance of victory I would’ve thought.
If no-one else emerges as a candidate to force the issue I urge this mystery person to have a go. Collo's time is up imo.

I think you might find that if the softly softly approach behind the scenes does not work, the fight will go public. Best for the club though that it is worked out without having dirty washing hung in public. But if it has to be - then so be it.

Fully agree with what you say Speedy. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately it's all too late now anyway.
The move that had to happen has been set in concrete for 10 wonderful years.
A new president or board will find it even tougher now.

Surrey, what the hell does that have to do with WHO will be President, rather than the things the current admin/board has already done?

Lighten up.

And, for the record, I'll put my hand up...

I may need to be advised on certain businness dealings, but I am media-trained, and I'd definitely get spotlight off the 2 fat clowns (Sheedy and McGuire).

Come on, who's behind me?!
