Errr, actually most people in this country probably don't give a @#$%&! about Good Friday, at least its historical and religious context. It's just another day off work, or an opportunity for penalty rates for those that do work. The merits of that position can be debated elsewhere if you must.

What you're saying is that families need Good Friday to stop and spend the day together. As if they are unable to be entertained as a family on any other day except Good Friday.

That's a bit wrong, don't you think?

You're a freedom type of guy, right? So give people the freedom to choose. Who's it going to hurt?

Playing a game of football on Good Friday doesn't put an end to the family activities you enjoy. And yet an increasingly archaic adherence to Christian history in an increasingly multicultural society is actually stopping people from having the freedom to watch a game of football on a night that is usually the biggest night of the footy weekend.

You're right, families and friends should spend time together and share time away from football and other entertainment activities. You're wrong to prescribe Good Friday as the Synbad-sanctioned day for this to take place.

Just like there will be another game of footy on another day, there will be (or should be) another opportunity for family functions on another day.

its actually good friday holiday.. and its there because it is good friday.... and the thing about good friday is people are supposed to rest ., spend time with family and reflect without distraction.. that doesnt mean in the religious sense ...

even if its scrapped.. it doesnt worry me... because i take my good friday off anyway...i make sure all my work is done.. my clients all know. and theyre happy...and i do my own thing for good friday.
