Errr, actually most people in this country probably don't give a @#$%&! about Good Friday, at least its historical and religious context. It's just another day off work, or an opportunity for penalty rates for those that do work. The merits of that position can be debated elsewhere if you must.

What you're saying is that families need Good Friday to stop and spend the day together. As if they are unable to be entertained as a family on any other day except Good Friday.

That's a bit wrong, don't you think?

You're a freedom type of guy, right? So give people the freedom to choose. Who's it going to hurt?

Playing a game of football on Good Friday doesn't put an end to the family activities you enjoy. And yet an increasingly archaic adherence to Christian history in an increasingly multicultural society is actually stopping people from having the freedom to watch a game of football on a night that is usually the biggest night of the footy weekend.

You're right, families and friends should spend time together and share time away from football and other entertainment activities. You're wrong to prescribe Good Friday as the Synbad-sanctioned day for this to take place.

Just like there will be another game of footy on another day, there will be (or should be) another opportunity for family functions on another day.

Freedom to choose, brother.

Well said.

I miss plenty of Carlton games each year due to family stuff. I don't see why Good Friday should remain sacrosanct when I suspect that most people are like myself and prioritize family activities no matter what day they are already.

While I wouldn't go watch a game I can't see why others couldn't.

Having a game of footy on Good Friday will hurt no one. It's just an option and people can make up their own minds
You forget, going to the footy is a family Affair for many people.

Really!

.. yeah i have an opinion.. i think people are stupid .. lazy and selfish...
im not trying to make people work on what has traditionally been a holiday for most people except essential services. so that i dont get @#$%&! bored!!!

footy is a family affair.. go to the park with your kids.. get them out of their mcdonalds lunch.. and dinner.. off the coca cola and kick a ball around...

those poor little things wouldnt even know how to navigate out of their bedrooms.. and off their computers.. as theyre cyber bullied into the next world...

its the dumbing down of the generations.. and it begins with boring bastards and the lifestyle and social standing they teach their kids.

no wonder kids just roam the streets [REDACTED] on ice and udl...

YOU wanna go to the footy.. cos youre @#$%&! bored!!!...

not only do you wanna go to the footy.....

YOU WANNA force someone else to work on whats tradionally a holiday for your selfish entrtainment purpose..

You wanna know why???... cos you are a marshmellow.. !!!... your brain is gunk.. and you ahve no @#$%&! idea how to live a day with your family withour forcing someobody else to lose time with their family to entertain YOU!!!

Who died and made you GOD??...

eh???

answer me that!!!

i outdone myself camelboy.. by pointing out the hypocricy of your line argument... where on YOUR GOOD FRIDAY HOLIDAY... you reserve the right for CHOICE by FORCING others to WORK on THEIR HOLIDAY... because youre BORED and dont have ANYTHING TO DO.... and need OTHERS to ENTERTAIN YOU.. and that is YOUR CHOOSING?

You obviously dont see anything weird in that do you????

are u really trying to poke holes in my argument.. and this is a serious question... are YOU SERIOUS????

one of the craziest things that has evolved in society over the last few decades is a sense of entitlement ...

here you are showing YOURS in all its glory.

other flower in our society...MUST entertain you and bring you happy choices.. (for u mind u....)

i find that very creepy....sorry.... but i do....!!!..

I reckon a lot of people working at the ground on good Friday would welcome the double time.

If it helps raise more money for the Kids Hospital then great, have a game.

..there shouldn't be any religious holidays at a fed level, we are meant to be a secular country, fairly certain ppl have religious rights so can take off a religious holiday if that pious..

sure... if we scrap the holiday .. then we have no arguments
i do my thing hazza.. u do yours.

i dont have a problem with that.. but when it is EASTER FRIDAY... and we have camelboy walking around his home in his jocks cant be arsed to do anything waiting for others to give up their holidays to entertain him.. and supported by chucky.. who comes pats camelboy's head anout naughty synbad .. "there there camelboy.... who does he think he is .. god or something?".. i think we have a problem

its actually good friday holiday.. and its there because it is good friday.... and the thing about good friday is people are supposed to rest ., spend time with family and reflect without distraction.. that doesnt mean in the religious sense ...

even if its scrapped.. it doesnt worry me... because i take my good friday off anyway...i make sure all my work is done.. my clients all know. and theyre happy...and i do my own thing for good friday.

but the flower bludgers..!!!.. that want the Good Friday holiday.. but want to make other people work to entertain their lazy asses .. they get up my goat!!

youre right.. if most of australia doesnt want a good friday holiday and instead prefer to go into work thats ok too.. it seriously doesnt affect me.
as a matter of fact its not great for business...but the spin off for me personally..having that day off.. doing what i cant do the rest of the year without distraction is fantastic.

i dont need to force people to work for me...
and i wont be forced to work when its my good friday for anyone.

thats what i call choice...

and until that day.. ill take exception to any lazy useless bored bastard that expects others to make their lives more meaningful.

BZZZZZZZZT!!!

thats not a proper choice..its a sense of ownership of other peoples lives. :screwy:

no offence to anyone who needs others peoples family sacrifices to make their own lives more enhanced...but you should understand what youre asking for...!!!

some probably do... some probably dont...

but in effect youre probably going to be forcing some to probaby do something they wish they didnt have to do.

why do we need a football game to raise money for the kids??

we need a footy game in this country to remember diggers.....Essendon*
and we need a foot game to make us think about racism
and women
and ethnics

and now we need a footy game to help raise money for sick kids??

really???

do u believe all that or is that how far we have slipped as a society???

so basically this country cant function without a footy game in every nook and cranny in our lives??

i have another idea also... while were banning holidays

why not bad the melbourne cup holiday... gambling and binge drinking isnt good for us ...

wed be a much more efficient productive country without any holidays...
we dont need holidays were secular.. and gambling and alcohol have a huge cost to our society..
i wanna go to a bank or a post office....

wed be the only country with no tradition away from sport.
or piss

not many layers in this nation...
