Feb 15th folks. Couldn't care less how many kicks some of our prime movers get about now as long as they don't get injured.

Nab cup is about the rest fighting for the final 4 or 5 spots for round 1. Bell and Ellard put a hand up. Boots did some okay stuff. Wood did very well against stiff opposition.

When all are fit we might have some solid depth.

Yep.

Considering the time of year, I thought it was a good quality performance.

People have already discussed Menzel, Everett etc, but I was also impressed by some of Cachia's work. He seems to have presence of mind when the heat's on and adds significant depth to our mid-field.

Good call Jack, Cachia cracked in all day and got a fair bit of the footy, and used it fairly well and thought his way through heavy traffic on several occasions, a very good game.

100% DE for Cachia.

As much as I hate to say this, based on what I have seen of Menzel both last year and yesterday I don't think we will miss Eddie as much as we might have thought we would.

Excellent hitout for a new look squad.

Menzel best draftee in at least 10 years - legit gun

Watson stronger and more confident

Bell and Cachia stronger and more confident as well

Great to see Waite up and about mid Feb

If only Yarran had Ellards level of discipline and application

Everitt might be excellent addition providing real xfactor

Good signs at this stage

Yes just watched the replay and noticed the same thing...i was thinking he was forcing a smile and forcing the 'smug' look. Didn't look natural at all.

That's why we didn't need to match the offer (+ too pricey for a small fwd), there are options to replace his position with a resting midfielder, Jeffy stepping up again, Menz, Everitt and maybe even Reynolds (&/or Johnson) getting a chance.

Liked Menzel's attack on the ball, pressure/tackling & confidence in kicking for goal.

..also Menz does quite often kick a couple of goals in a match so it won't take him long to be kicking 40+ a season since he should build up is tank quite quickly I think..

Menzel is a good overhead mark as was Eddie, but Menzel has greater height so he has less chance of being worked under the ball.

I think Menzel will be one of those players opposition teams love to hate - our very own birthday boy.

Sort of a reverse of St Kilda's attempt to look depressed at winning the preseason cup a few years ago. Truth is I would be worried if I was him. Almost a full-strength team and still look to be relying on too few to do too little.

Oh, and Lindsay Thomas is still an absolute POS.

Yes, that beaming smile did not go unnoticed, looked very forced.

Don't know what it is about L.Thomas but I'm always rooting for him to get polaxed whenever I see him play. Small forwards that seem to get under supporters' skins; Blair, Ballantyne, L. Jetta, A.Davey, J.King, E Betts.

Cam Wood was very impressive looks a bigger upper body now and quite fit, Goldie is no slouch, as was Everitt impressive, nice kick & handy at both ends, some nice squad depth additions for relatively little cost.
With so much quality out, I was really impressed we didn't carry too many, "early doors" but maybe we can go a little deeper in September, if anyone can key forward for us.

What had to happen happened.

The guys on the edge showed their intent. Bell, Robinson, Ellard and Cachia intimidated the North boys enough for us to reel in the win.

Along with that we had Menzel, Cripps and Graham showing where the future may sit.
