I'll take the win even though it was a nothing game. They faded in the end despite having gone to Arizona. I think North went to Mt Eliza.

North went to Utah.

We faded because Tuohy & Walker got injured in the 3rd and the boys were spent at 3QT. They had to sub Graham back on when Walker mysteriously went down to the rooms in the 3rd and never returned.

Can anyone answer this? Any injury to Tex is the only thing that could take the gloss of a pleasing hit out for mid-Feb.

MM in the presser gave us a clean bill of health, so we should be right....

I sat behind the bench. Tuohy - was limping and by the look of where they were working on him, I would say it's hammy related. Walker went to rooms in 3rd and never came back. Both subbed out. Hence boys were cooked by 3 quarter time. Surprised we held on.

It was a decent hit-out.

I think Mick got all the answers he needed from the structures put in place and the questions asked of certain players.

I must admit I am excited about what the season holds for Tommy Bell. He reminds me of a kid in a man's body and he is just about to discover just what he is capable.

I loved what Menzel and Buckley had to offer too.

Just on the Norf love-fest - did anyone else notice Scott at the end of the game? He looked to me to be forcing a smile and trying to look happy and jovial in front of the cameras. Sort of a reverse of St Kilda's attempt to look depressed at winning the preseason cup a few years ago. Truth is I would be worried if I was him. Almost a full-strength team and still look to be relying on too few to do too little.

Oh, and Lindsay Thomas is still an absolute POS.

Thanks a ton, Wook. Based on those highlights, Mitch Robinson is MUCH better than I imagine he is.

What a terrible ground for the paying ($18.00) public (Members have to pay as well-^%$*&(^disgrace)
Viewing areas flat as a tack
I left & went & watched it at the pub

I'm sorry to say that no further AFL games should be played at that venue

Agree, do North actually want to play regular season games there one day? :?

Certainly the ground needs a lot of improvements. The 'terraces' were terraced. That made it very difficult to see if you were not on the fence. There were no seats even on the fence (QEO has these and did have before the upgrade). It was amazingly dusty, considering that some 'rain' had actually fallen and most people seemed to be there for a good time. Very few people were taking the game even remotely seriously. Very difficult viewing conditions.

Didn't seem like Roos dominated possession.
Ziebell & Bell standouts
Bell is fit, strong and full of confidence. Dangerous mix, could be a big year.
Buckley looked good in defence, quick, hard as nails & skilful.
Everitt had a good game, some are saying he went quiet but I think it was more he got moved around and effectively at that.
Menzel, didn't get alot of touches but everyone counted.
Cachia was impressive also, backed himself and really took opponents on. Looked effective too.
Wood offered at bit in the ruck, more than Hampson, Rowe or Casboult did.
Watson was strong, efficient but did get left for dead on a couple of chases.
Cripps showed glimpses, very conscious of keeping his arms free which was good.
Rowe got beaten a few too many times but he could hold down a KPD possie on occasion I think.
Boots was up and down, few really positive possies then some really sloppy ones.
Ellard I've always said if given a regular spot is s good goal kicking mid.

Why was Gibbs across half back so much? Let him settle in the guts/wing/HF
Lucas was sloppy so to Graham
Yarran didn't do a lot but either did Murph, Waite, etc

Great day!
The ground isn't great for viewing, but still a good atmosphere.
However I agree that the ticket price was a bit steep given the limitations.

I'm just glad that footy is back!

I was a bit surprised that we won given the strength of the North Melbourne side.

Bring on the crows :-)

Yes, that beaming smile did not go unnoticed, looked very forced.

Don't know what it is about L.Thomas but I'm always rooting for him to get polaxed whenever I see him play. Small forwards that seem to get under supporters' skins; Blair, Ballantyne, L. Jetta, A.Davey, J.King.

Sorry the atmosphere was non-existant, was pretty dead to be honest

Horrible ground for watching footy

Mick wants more games up there (though he's from that way, Nth Ballarat). Said the ground itself was tip top. His viewing position may be better than most...

I know its early doors and just a practise game but there were signs of things to come and expect.

Bell is a raging bull. BOG. He's made for finals footy

Everitt is exactly what I expected . Fast mobile, tall and the class we needed to add.

Cripps first game ever showed Lucas that age experience and speed is not all you need to make an AFL player.

Buckley showed everyone his desire to make the grade. Speed reflexes and creativity in abundance. Jaw dropping TBH.

Ellard is a work horse and great to have that Lion heart available for selection.

All the above along with Thomas and Docherty are additions to last years list. Very promising.

Diesel Kouta Brown Bradley Ratten circa 1995
Cripps Bell Murphy Gibbs Thomas circa 2015....add Tuohy Yarran walker ...we have a good mix again.

Wood was surprisingly good. Warnock doesn't get dominated but needs to do more.
Levi's kicking action much better. Geez he's a good mark.

Some seriously great names missing and Murphy Waite Walker were very off and rusty. North had virtually a full list. I like the defensive efforts and can see where the improvement will come in 2014.

Bring it on!

Agree with most, so won't repeat. Great 1st hit out by the boys.
The love affair of everything except Carlton by fox is disgraceful. Anyhow it hurts them in the end when we win - so I'll enjoy listen to their flat tones afterwards.
C.Wood looks like could be a damn good addition. I thought he was the best ruckman on the ground. Could be a diamond pick afterall.

Tou have to watch it even if it's just to see who is who. I find it hard to recogize a few players because of their new haircuts. Gibbs? I had no idea who it was until I saw his #4.

I thought Gibbs was Chris Massie.

The only thing that hasn't been mentioned (I think) , was our defensive strutchere zone to Norths kick ins. They had trouble getting the ball out .
