.....so he had a couple of bad years
but look at his form!
* He almost ran the nation with the liberal party
* He was one of the richest and most influential characters in Australia in the 1980s
* He has a personality (unlike Collo)
* No wooden spoons to his name
* Responsible for 4 premierships
* People would stop asking me who runs Carlton
* He loves a beer

see if you overlook a few minor details it will be ok... see a generally all around good guy im drunk

No wooden spoons to his name well he was president when we got our first spoon but i reckon he is a better president just did a few mistakes at the end, but the salary shit wasn't his fault they were the selfish ex Carlton Players thinking of how much more greed they want to stay or get all these new cash after retirement and John Elliot had to fight to keep them in a dirty way and those players talked like little girls except Frasier Brown the legend, who told the AFL investigation nothing.

I can agree with this, I tell Jack we want him back every time I see him at the footy..

Jack had a passion for our club, he still does, with Collo, it seems to me that he couldnt give a shit if we win, lose or draw..

By the way, he likes a red 8)

Put simply, if we had Elliott, we would soon have no Carlton Football Club.

Rich and influential, yes, but ever heard of Elders IXL? I think a lot of people on here are too young to remember that and the millions that some people lost because of it.

I think we need another 'BRING BACK JACK' thread, just to go with the four identical threads already started :garthp:

I agree with this.

Yeah and if he were to come back, you wouldn't have a club to support.

Of course that's what you want isn't it?!

Jack would sell Carlton to the highest bidder. With all his money troubles at the end. Dont forget Jack wanted us to merge. All he thinks about is money.

i reckon you're just shit stirring dane (you're drunk when you wrote it after all) ... but hey trashing jack is one of fave past times!!

* He almost ran the nation with the liberal party (labor was in power mostly while he was treasurer of the libs)
* He was one of the richest and most influential characters in Australia in the 1980s (sort of, but he had some backer in monaco who kept bailing him out)
* He has a personality (unlike Collo) (so drunken buffoonery = personality? ... :roll: )
* No wooden spoons to his name (one, as rambo pointed out)
* Responsible for 4 premierships (2 actually ... 87 & 95)
* People would stop asking me who runs Carlton (who cares? do you know who runs Essendon*? does it matter? does every pres have to be like eddie?)
* He loves a beer (we should get val perovic as pres then)

Jack is a LEGEND who wasn't afraid to make a STAND and for that we're all in his DEBT.

Some say he was DRUNK on power, but these people merely feel CHEATED that god didn't make them half the man Jack was. In comparison, the current admin is merely GROPING and LURCHING around like a blind man in the dark, BANKRUPT of ideas.

The way some people knock Jack is terrible. They have no respect for their ELDERS and if they ever had to run an organisation themselves, would undoubtedly turn to WATER at the WHEEL.

And don't think for a moment that old Jack spent his last decade TRADING on his reputation. That sort of thinking is INSOLVENT, and I'd hate to think that anyone here would be GUILTY of it.

You have got to be joking. The man is the living embodiment of all that was wrong with the 80's. His one redeeming feature is that he appears to genuinely, passionately love the Blues.

Most of his business and private ventures have slowly unravelled around him under a cloud of litigation and conspiracy. Even his personal life has had its fair share of dodginess about it. Remember when he sold his house out from under his wife without her knowing!!

If Jack was going to run our club the way he ran the other elements of his life then, for mine we are better off without him. Last thing we need is the kind of press you get when the National Crime Authority is pursuing your president, or the Bankruptcy courts are making decisions about the personal estate of your president.

If we are so unhappy with Collo then there must be better choices out there than Jack. He has been gone just long enough for the memories to start to fade. Unfortunately when that happens you tend to remember the good bits first and suppress the bad bits. Beleive me team there were plenty of bad bits, wake up!!

Oh I do... but not in 'that' way.

Just something about the way he carries himself, he's one spunky geezer.

Jack's a Hack, but was good to laugh at, Collo is boring in that respect.

Collo can't be trusted - his no.1 goal is to protect TD, not your team remember!
