It's these games that bring us through the gates.

We'll remember that win until we die.

Even better, so will tiger supporters

Hear hear!

how good was that eh? I stupidly went up to Sydney for the final. the most dismal vibe and game ever. The year before, my brother and his girls had done thew same thing, and would not go with me. Now I know for myself why. Anz stadium plus losing sucks!!!!!
Funny thing is,
How did Richmond, and everyone else not know we'd win that game?
  Synners

Why not? If that's what he wants to do that's up to him. Everyone's different. Why do you guys seem to think that everyone has to have the same attitude or belief or enjoyment in the club or the game? Doesn't make them more or less a supporter IMHO. :?

Footy for enjoyment vs footy for flags.

I'm in both camps.

My kidz have replayed the Richmond game probably over 20 times these summer holidays and let me tell you how important it is for young Carlton supporters. Significant....and they even put it on to get me into watching footy such is the enjoyment...when its on!!!

The Sydney game means nothing to them other than players slipping over on a shit surface, and Carlton not kicking the 9 goals required in the last to win...which they could have had they kicked straight...which was pleasing if you want to look for positives.

I love the fact that Carlton means flags, but that wasnt so before 1968.

I've been spoilt since 1968 and I do get a lot of pleasure from all Carlton games we win, but I also get enjoyment...even today...watching the Blues against Essendon* in 2013 which we lost in the last minute because it gives us 3 qtrs of blue bliss plus a hint of things to come.

If it was all about winning flags, then I wouldnt be a supporter because I know no team will win one every year.

I love footy and Carlton and every game Carlton wins...and I expect flags. Nothing wrong with that imo.

Bring on season 2014...and watch the improvement in the lads.
Top 4 is a real possibility. I'm putting plenty on that.

Reminds me of stkilda 'the streak video'...
Stkilda kind of excitement.
I suppose that's what happens when you have not much to show from close onto twenty years of competition.
Decades go fast.

Six days after my marriage was over I went to this game and held back tears all match, only to lose it when we hit the front then when the siren went. This game will forever live in my memory. Let's not talk about the Port game, highs and lows of life hey!

I agree, people can do or think how they like. I'm not judging individuals as such, more the concept of why we follow sport. I will say though that it would be a shame if you didn't enjoy Judds goal in that game because 'it's only against Richmond' - seems kind of sad.

When you watch all the losses back to back its clear why we didn't make
the finals.

bread and butter goal.. waite did the hard work juddy kicked what anyone would have kicked.. but because he kicked it .. and he doesnt kick them.. we dont expect him to kick a goal from 30.. we had another wank for weeks..

KWOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAA

did u see juddys goal???

bread and butter goal for anyone playing the sport at that level...

but OMG that was a ripper!!

That game basically highlights everything ive been saying.

i loved the game .. dont get me wrong... anyone who knows how i spent that game would know that...

but then it needs to crystalise into something meaningful.. on its own its very temporary...
so for me the next week eclpsed that game

I dunno. Butchering Essendon* in the 2011 EF was pretty damn special IMO

Agreed.
That was better

...but the win against the Tigers was pretty good too. The inevitability of it was intoxicating, the choke, the fear, the anger, that fat he-she thing in the Richmond cheer squad with the glasses pointing her finger and crying....
something about picking on the Tigers is just fun
I'm sure the Hawks feel the same about us. May as well enjoy having a bunny while you can... never know when the tide will turn
