I'm full of them Brad! If the club adopts 3% of them, we're doing well.

I thought the Gardiner Stand was heritage listed?
If so, it would limit what you could actually do.

It shouldn't limit it much. Which is why you've got to be careful using the word 'renovation'. Grants of $20,000 - $200,000 are available for the repair/conservation of places on the Victorian Heritage Register, and $5,000 - $20,000 grants are available for the repair/conservation of heritage objects. These would help - as would some added incentive from Melbourne City Council. But the bigger picture is a groundswell of supporter engagement in repairing a tired old building that is now over 100 years old and making it a feature of the ground.

My suggestion of painting the roof with the 150th logo is unlikely to happen...but the paining of the roof will occur at some stage. As of now I think there is Coca-Cola and Optus advertising painted on the roof.

Let's make some room for the green army to plant some trees

Poor policy to have green grass to replace the Gardner Stand

By doing this, you are effectively killing Princes Park as a football ground and putting it into the hands of the tree hugging public....

The East West link will be nearby Princes Park.

For all the nay sayers (not the Carlton Director  ) this is an opportunity to build Princes Park to a 50,000 seat stadium.

Happy Xmas to you all :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Is the reason the anniversary game is against Hawthorn just because that's near the actual date of the club's founding?

Because if we are going by recent history it is probably the game we are least likely to win in 2014!

Why only a fifty thousand training stadium?
Why not more ?

Good point Synbad. 50,000 is too small for North Melbourne vs GWS

It's more a part restoration. It's structurally sound - but it does need work and to be bereft of possum shit. I'm on Kickstarter most days and this will be a first for a sporting club in Australia - but you have to get the communication right and also make it worthwhile for the investor.

If a $20 investment will get me a photo in the Gardiner Stand with all other investors (plus team) and a $40 investment gets me a special edition Gardiner Stand polo shirt or hoodie and a $100 investment gets me the photo and a limited edition Gardiner Stand bottle of wine - what's a $500 investment get me? If it's a plaque on a seat, plus photo, plus 'Ghosts of Carlton' tour then I might not invest. I'd be wanting them to think outside the square a bit more on this one.

If I have my way - I'd rip out the seats in front of the Gardiner Stand and create a grassed area. I'd also set up plans to utilize what's underneath the Stand which is a fantastic space and make the walk between the Training Facility and the Gardiner Stand a very easy one...at the moment - it's nigh-on impossible.

...and while my suggestion of the Gardiner Stand being the location for the 2014 AGM might not get up - it has merit and is a another good reason to rip out those ugly seats in front of the Gardiner.

I still have a lot of splinters in my arse from those seats . Best time of my life they were . But the seats were and are aweful. I wonder if they ever fixed that gate there too.

Doc, a while ago you didn't seem to know much about Mark (not sure many of us did). Have you had a chance to get to know him (or about him) a little more since then? I would be interested in your thoughts as I still don't know much beyond the bio.

Seems to be a good operator. Mark and Ryan get along well, so I'd suggest they'd both make their cases to the board and the board will vote in a President without any in-fighting. I'm still not entirely comfortable with Mark being the clubs spokesperson on matters pertaining to responsible gaming in the community when his livelihood is paramount to the success of pokie machines. It's just not a good look for the club considering their debt reduction plan is also via the success of pokie machines. I think that could be structured and/or communicated better - but moving forward - if we were to build more of an asset base and follow more a Hawthorn model - then I'd be satisfied that LoGuidice could take the club in that direction quite well. Ryan has some good ideas and thinks big picture which I like immensely - but he could still do that as VP.

It's all good.

Cheers Doc, good to hear.
