Who would know, but something like:

B: Simpson, Jamison, Walker
HB: Tuohy, Watson, Everitt*
C: Thomas, Gibbs, Yarran
HF: Murphy, Henderson, Waite
F: Garlett, Casboult, Menzel
Foll: Kreuzer, Judd, Carrazzo

*Personally I like McInnes, but I'm guessing that given how hard Mick went for Andrejs, he's going to be in the team.

I/C from: Armfield, Bell, Bootsma, Docherty, Ellard, Lucas, McLean, Robinson, Scotland, #13

Jimmae, what two extra talls?

Everitts best football has been as a running defender or pushing up on a wing. He may be tall but he doesn't play that way. Think Andrew Mackie.

Curnow had a great year as a tagger but I believe as we get better and develop midfield depth MM might not use that role and Garlett is good and will enjoy the space created by Betts leaving but IMO for him to be a regular in a top side he needs to contribute more up the field.

and who goes out? Also missing are Robinson Watson, Armfield, Ellard, Bell, Pick 13, Lucas, Bootsma who could easily be in the side as well.

Every year you say something along those lines about someone. You don't want to know the average. :P

Everitt is not a medium defender's arsehole. He'd be better off up the other end or playing on a tall he can cover with his speed and reach. His best work has been when he has the football or is near the contest forward of centre. He's not going to see enough of that as a defender.

You're playing two ruckman and a bloke who doesn't really add to the run, at the expense of two players who could.

I'd rather a solid and reliable defender in McInnes and find another position for Everitt as needed. His value should be noted as much in the fact that he was worth about the same as a 5th round pick as the way in which we courted him. People who think he's an automatic starter aren't looking properly at why he was recruited in the first place.

If just one of our starting talls goes down, he's the next guy alongside Warnock. Nobody wants the next guy after Warnock to be Casboult or Rowe if we actually want to improve.

Ok ... Suddenly the team looks a little stronger. This would be my first up team.

B: Armfield, Jamison, Walker
HB: Yarran, Henderson, Docherty
C: Thomas, McLean, Simpson
HF: Gibbs, Waite, Garlett
F: Kreuzer, Casboult, Menzel
Foll: Warnock, Judd, Murphy

I/C: Carrazzo, Tuohy, Everitt, Curnow

Everitt looks like a good kick ... I reckon I would play him up forward a bit.
If Casboult is not performing ... put Waite at FF and send Everitt to CHF.

We will see ...

My side would be:

B: Tuohy Jamison Everitt
HB: Docherty Watson Simpson
C: Thomas Murphy Yarran
HF: Walker Henderson Menzel
F: Kreuzer Waite Garlett

RU: Warnock Judd Gibbs

I/C: Carazzo, Robinson, McLean, Bell

As much as i loved Curnow's efforts this year i don't know that he is a lock. If Carrazzo is fully fit he has to play and i don't think there is room in the side for both of them.

I also believe we need to find a way to play Henderson as a permanent forward.

B: Tuohy Jamison Everitt
HB: Walker Armfield Simpson
C: Thomas Gibbs Lucas
HF: Garlett Henderson Curnow (quite simply its a 5 man forward line with a rotating mid, and Curnow as a tagger)
F: Menzel Waite Judd (figure Judd will start to spend a lot more time named forward)
Foll: Kreuzer, Carrazzo, Murphy

I/C: Yarran, McLean, Warnock, Robinson

First choice depth: Bell, Graham, Docherty, Casboult

Quite potentially it'd be Carrots who would need to prove he has Curnow's place. Curnow's B&F result and outstanding work on the opposition's best has certainly put the mozz on Carrazzo to either not be a tagger and be a ball winner (something he can be good at), or perhaps play second fiddle to Mr. Curnow who probably has his stocks right now.

Judd cannot play forward as he has issues kicking between the big sticks. A bit of a liability in those stakes, not a damaging forward & limited defensive pressure. Needs to take a leaf out of Gary Ablett's book.

There's a bucketload of flexibility in that lineup.

I like it.

Apart from the two rucks great side, A forward line of Kruezer, Waite and Henderson is too slow and none of them are great pack marks. A lot depends on Watson. If he is playing well down back then Kruezer doesn't fit forward.

You'll forgive me for waiting a little while with an Irish recruit. :P

Curnow is a lock. I expect them to be trying Watson through the pre-season, and probably experimenting with a way to play Kreuzer and Warnock together.

You and I are not that far off by the looks of it BV, but I like what someone like McInnes does for us structurally and tactically over the impact of Warnock.

I'd also float the idea of Buckley in that spot you've set for Graham. Bucks oozes pace and class, so here's hoping his tank is up and running this season.

Graham's there as a resting mid, Jim. He, Murphy, Gibbs etc. They could do some damage rotating in the pocket.
Buckley has to show more before he gets a gig IMO.
McInnes has to show he has his mobility back to acceptable levels otherwise Walker will take the 3rd tall. He struggles there a bit in marking contests his run is an acceptable trade off. There's a shitload of potential midfielders in the side which gives us plenty of run and adaptability.

I've never seen Armfield on KPPs. Does he have the height and strength to go with Cloke, Kennedy, Riewoldt etc?
