Anyway, Saddington is 25 and was developed through a strong "culture of winning". He's now had 3 years of onfield discipline under Roos.

On the park Saddington's a smart player. A bit like Whitnall who uses space to overcome some deficiencies (ie, his inability to "take a Tredrea")... he can kick small bags of goals up forward by doing this.

If Saddington can put on some beef and get his groove back, he may become "a leader", of sorts. He's a clever player, and I hope some of his smarts and good-habits (learned under Eade and Roos) can rub off on some of his younger defensive teammates.

Agreed. I have respect for Saddington as he played good footy post knee.

Hopefully a change of scenary and the inspiration of playing under a 2 time premiership coach will give Saddington the pills he needs to fire up again.

Hope his knee holds out for the next 5 years - he could be play another hundred games.

Certainly much beter deal than Longmuir. Saddington has a significant upside if he has recovered from injuries. May be a bit of a plus for us.

For Pick 52 he is a good pick up. I suspect hed play in the back as he did with Barry before he did hes knee. Saddington gain a bit of weight however dont spend too much time with Lance! . SOS we need you to teach this kid how to defend.................

despite his injury, he will surely be better than Livingston, so he will certainly strengthen our backline.

I can't see Saddington bulking up. He's 26 which means he's prolly been on a weights program for about 10years - I can't see a preseason in the antiquated gym at Optus turning him into a goliath - but that's ok. He'll always be beaten by a Tredrea in a strength based marking context but i seem to remember him having good speed and a great reach which are important weapons.

Interested in where people seeing him play (assuming he returns to his pre 2005 best) and how the 2006 backline should be structured in general

I'm tipping Thornton will have a big summer in the gym - another 5kgs and he'll be genuine big fullback, I still think he's our best option in this position.

I'll be surprised if this guy plays more than a season for us. He is talented, but a lazy footballer. Would need to become more disciplined if he is to make it as a regular player, let alone a leader.

I've seen him up here in Sydney. He's a tall flanker like Wellman. He's not genuine KP. Might be a shot at CHF actually since he doesn't like punching, he always goes for the mark. Wouldn't surprise me to see him played there.
