The trade is copping sh*t, he isn't - big difference.

Not really.

An authority! He could get a job on Fox News in 2016 predicting the presidential election.

Spuddest of all the spud commentators. He's the Marcus Davies of the airwaves.

When I hear his ridiculous Ocker accent (perfect for radio), I turn off at 100 miles per hour.

In short....... DUD

I think getting Everitt is a good move. Will be good as a third key defender, occasionally even the 2nd when playing teams like the Bulldogs.

The fact that we also got pick 39 means we may delist another player - preferably Duigan who is not up to it in my eyes.

don't see much difference between 32 and 39 in this draft.

Dropping 7 picks to 39 hardly ideal. That's not good negotiating when he's worth 51.

While I agree that the deal isn't ideal, unfortunately Sydney would not have used #51.
Given that we wanted him, we didn't have much choice. Just like we payed unders for Docherty, and received overs for Hampson.

We will be targetting Mccarthy (KPF) with our first round selection if his still there ..if not the best available midfielder ...which we'll still have a few quality ones to choose from . Im not sure if we will be using more than 4 picks / selections though

List Composition thus far for 2014 (players can be counted in multiple categories):

Ruckman: 2 - Warnock, Kreuzer
Additional players who can spell in the ruck: 3 - Rowe, Casboult, Watson

Tall forwards: 5 - Henderson, Waite, Casboult, Rowe, Everitt
3rd tall forward: 3 - Walker, Duigan, Robinson
Small forwards: 4 - Menzel, Buckley, Yarran, Garlett

Tall defenders: 4 - Jamison, Watson, Henderson, Everitt
3rd tall defender: 5 - White, Walker, McInnes, Bootsma, Duigan
Small defender: 5 - Yarran, Tuohy, Simpson, Docherty, Temay

Midfield: 28 - Everyone except the talls (if we're desperate enough)
Legitimate midfield depth: 23 - Everyone except the talls, McInnes, Bootsma, Duigan, White & Temay.

So 23 in the midfield pool, 2 in the ruck pool, 7 for tall roles at either end and 5 players who are a lot more inflexible in their positional play to this point.

Next year we really need to look at moving on some or all of the following names unless something miraculous happens:
- Casboult (awful kick, doesn't shake direct opponent easily, poor ruck chop out)
- Rowe (work rate highly inconsistent, may need 2 more years to see a return and will be 27)
- White (too short to play tall, too slow to play small)
- Duigan (see White)
- Ellard (too slow and not enough of an elite endurance runner to make up for that, extremely limited kicking depth)
- Armfield (concentration lapses make him a liability)
- Heath Scotland (the end is nigh)

Judd & Waite will need to show they have enough in the tank for the following year, while Bootsma, Bell and Cachia will need to take more strides.

A good trade period for Carlton Football Club
Three players wanting to come to Carlton got there
Thomas is a star and hopefully the other two will play plenty of games for Carlton Docherty and Everett
Kept our first pick got a late second rounder
Much better than last preseason
Still need KPP but well done

Midfield needs rejuvenation now. This draft is the time to do it. I hope they pick a quality mid.

Carrazzo, Scotland and Judd are supposed to carry us?

Gibbs and Lucas are the next leaders coming through??

Murphy is drowning and needs a chop out as he can't handle a tag!!

Maybe some more flankers will help.

We need mids now!! Get Dunstan!!

Needs to play smarter to secure a regular spot in 2014. Wasted a lot of good opportunities in front of goal in the second half of the season and loses his opponent too easily when put into midfield.

We recruited a 6"4 Swing/wing/KPP(man) for effectively 7 spot downgrade in the draft
Maybe half of you should balance off your negative thinking with the fact that Everett has cost us next to nothing. Look at our picks before and after the draft. Consider we had the 6th worst draft picks when we started and heaps of players with no currency. Stop blaming the present on the past
Take the emotion and bias out of it

Thomas, Docherty, Everitt

For Pick 22(est Betts compo), Hampson and a minor downgrade in picks

Not bad really.

You mean a pro Carlton winning a 17th premiership bias? :?

never a truer word spoken. i cannot stand his FAKE, exaggerated ocker accent and ostentatious attempts to either be controversial or to support the 'footballers perspective' (eg. against print journalists) i guess to cultivate ocker opinion support and beef up his credentials amidst some of his sport star co-commentators' on-field sporting credentials.
he should just be who he is and generate respect through his own, genuine contributions as anthony hudson and gerard whately have done.
(of course, i acknowledge that my opinion won't help his ratings and he probably knows what will better than I - but it annoys the hell out me!)

My guess is that we'll use 4 ND picks, 4 rookie picks and have a 39/5 senior/rookie split (with Duigan delisted, Curnow + Bell elevated, Cachia retained as a rookie).
