"Heritage" as in the very old just after Federation monogram, or as in 1927-1997 monogram?

Would look better with the notches, but a hell of an improvement over the current logo. Would be great if they could keep it after next year, just substitute the "150 years" for the good old Latin. That'd easily be the classiest logo in the league.

I maintain if they take the too-tall and unbalanced current logo and squeeze it down so the larger "C" is a similar proportion to the 1927-97 logo, that would be the best option.

It's more balanced. It's stronger looking. It's more modern than the 1927-97 logo, but still harks back to that era.

Win/win.

Absolutely agree too.

They should play with that proper monogram (1920s-1997) all the time, but like I said before as long as they win matches and wear navy blue I can accept the present situation. It still isn't the same Carlton that Johnston, Harmes, Nicholls and others are linked to. The club keeps saying members are important - but on this issue they completely ignore members over and over again.

Has been mentioned before, but...

the club promo invites us to 'be part of our 150th year'.

Bit late now.

Get it right by inviting us to celebrate our 150th anniversary.

BELIEVE We are Birdbrains.

Well.....technically, the club was formed in 1861 but Carlton's first full year of competition was in 1865. So 2014 is the 150th season as far as I'm concerned.

I love the new ad and I know it will be in a 30 second time slot and needs to affiliate with today's supporters BUT can they make an extended version incorporating more players than just the 20 years and plonk it on the website.

Frankly, the majority of our glorious history is outside the last 20 years.....

There should be more emphasis on those great Carlton sides of the mid 2000s

So how does 1864 fit into the scheme of things?

Lovely pair of serifs.

Did you crop that pic?
Why?
I can't see the point.

No cropping...no need to use a raunchier one on a family site. If you've seen that film, those serifs should have left an indelible impression.

You missed my point. You all did.
I was trying to set up someone to add an 's' to my post.
Moshe, I was betting on you there.

1864 was the year that the Carlton Football Club was officially formed (with a Committee, Captain etc). It's believed July 2, 1864 was our first game. We played 10 matches for 1 win. No fixture - clubs just agreed to play each other ad-hoc. We didn't wear navy blue until 1871. Games consisted of two 50 minute halves with no change of ends. Captains acted as umpires. Two goals won a game. If two goals were not scored, the game resumed the following week.

Things progressed pretty quickly from there.

Worth noting that the Carlton Football Club is the only club to have competed in every season, including 1864, until the present day. Melbourne didn't play between 1916-18, and Geelong 1916, and 1942-1943.

Be good to add Essendon* 2014-2018 to that...

I agree to disagree.

Did anyone get an email from the club to pre order the playing jumper for next year? It's out Dec 1st.

Does not look any different from this year. Thought someone said we will have two special jumpers next year. Only difference I saw is the old crest on the top of the jumper at the top.

I was looking forward to the old big CFC .....

Suppose that will be for the 4 special games.

I think the jumper in today's email was the regular home & away jumper for next season. The special jumper will only be worn against Rich, Ess & Coll so I'm sure that one will look different.
