That compensation system was really thought out well. Pies get a pick 8 spots higher than Hawks get for Buddy

I don't think the fact we get a free agent should cancel out us getting compensated for Eddie.
Why should we be penalised for recruiting?
Teams that only recruit don't have to give up anything.
They should be counted as seperate transactions.

It's insane any club gets compo picks.

Every other club in the comp pays for clubs not resigning their players.

What's the rest of the comp got to do with dal Santo to north. Saints win with compo pick. North wins getting Dal and every other club pays the price by dropping places in the draft order.

Exactly. The fact they terminated the final year of his contract should rule any compensation out.

Its a [REDACTED] up system, and as usual we're the stupid club that misses out on compensation after losing a free agent.

At the moment? They have been a corrupt, pathetic and unfair competition for 20 years now. Thankfully finally some of you have seen it.

its because the game is too small and its promoted as some massive game....

very difficult to run a comp australia wide when half the country doesnt play it.
10 teams from one state
no depth is players
no money
no second tier

under the circumstances theyre doing a pretty good job..

would u prefer a 34 round competition and then 6 weeks of finals???

would u prefer rich clubs taking over???... all our players would get poached.. were not rich!!!.... your mates elliott and sticks fixed that....

do u wanna bring zoning back????

i mean what do u expect????

Just looked at Friday's trades.
Melbourne is a basket case but has landed Roos and now jagged a number of handy players this week whilst we have managed Thomas.
The Docherty thing has stalled and while we were vacillating we have managed to drop 5 places in the draft. So pick 29 couldn't land Docherty and now we have pick 33 to bargain with instead. We'd be better off trying to do more than one deal at a time so we can at least make one of them happen.
Our first pick is 13. Funny that Thomas was 13 at Collingwood. The supersticious among us will be pleased to know we have that pick to get a star player with.
GCS has managed the first two picks in the draft for the third consecutive year. How the hell did that happen? At least they have no idea how to pick decent players.
Collingwood is in a much better position than us list wise and has two picks in the top eleven. They got that by losing Thomas and losing a final after an injury-ridden season. Plus they will get Adams for Shaw, even though they told Shaw to piss off. Add their usual lopsided draw and they are once again looking down the sights of a top 4 finish with depth to go with it.

I am so pleased we finished 6th.

Two things stand out for me here.

Melbourne is active and has landed a couple of pretty decent players and we are shit at trade week and always have been.

It would be refreshing to see the club attempt something brazen and savvy for a change.

Dealing with us would be like playing chess with a six year old.

What Melbourne has done has taken some balls. What it has done has shored up belief amongst the current group that the coach has faith in them, whilst at the same time adding some serious midfield depth.

So, call me crazy, but I now see more of a future for both the Bullies and the Dees than for us.

Would all the supporters really be that upset if we made the call to forget about a flag for the next three years?

I could care less to be honest. It would save a lot of frustration.

This club does not inspire me right now, it leaves me quite flat.

Hit. Nail. Head. and all that.

What makes it all worse is the filth cleaning up big time.

Settling for mediocrity and prolonging the inevitable.

Pick 28 was never pick 29, everyone knew it was going to slip after factoring in compensation picks.
I assume you mean GWS not GCS? You say they have no idea how to pick decent players in the draft, yet you commend Melbourne for their good recruiting, after landing Dom Tyson.
