Watching From the Fox Footy Vault. He's wearing glasses! Big, thick glasses!

I can't believe it.

Tony Southcombe - a gun ruckman from Bendigo for a season or two??

I think you're right.

Gutsy effort to wear Graham Garden like glasses in a footy match.

Welcome to TC Pete!

Tony Southcombe came up as the answer to a trivia question at a Carlton organised trivia night a couple of months ago.

Not too many there knew much about him (including our table).

There was a bloke that played on my Dad's footy team in the very early 80's who wore glasses on the field. I guess back in the days before contacts were commonplace it wasn't that unusual.

He wore contacts for a while too. Lost them and the trainers went rummaging for them in the mud at Princes Park. Stick with the glasses. He was a gun T.S. Remember him fondly.

Wow Tony Southcombe, that's a blast from the past. He was a gun player in Bendigo, reluctant to come down as I think he was in business up there (real estate) possibly. Anyway came for a year to prove he could do it. Did Don Scott wear glasses onfield at one stage? Also the Hawks had a guy called Mike Zemski who wore big specs
