What with
Swann, Brown, Buttifant, Daisy.

This is Micks baby now sunshine he's going to have to start wearing the blame soon.

No book tours or hanging with his kids to make them some coin now . The old cauliflower needs to produce.

Got our premium.

Have to settle for a mid-strength or even light beer now.

Filth getting the champers, it seems

How can he be blamed for a poor list, poor development, average recruiting department

The other problem the club has is every newspaper, every journo link every player with Carlton.

Player managers use Carltons name to drive up player prices.

Other clubs run to the media revealing what we discuss at trade time.

Andy Mckay gets on radio tellign the world we have a list of 15 players we are interested in. No wonder these players run off and do deals with other clubs when our football manager comes out telling the world basically we are speaking to every player in the comp.

I can see why Mick asked the question regarding Geoff Walshe availability.

Nothing much, but he did nothing last year, didn't even bring in an assistant apart from Igor Wiley (who I like) . Didn't know or want to know the players but said the list was fine, you remember that don't you?

So now he's at the club, got a free pass (like some some coahes do) in his first year but now it sounds like he should be given a pass for next year as well.

Sorry, doesn't work that way. He's on the big coin, he took the job and he's going to have to perform.

If he's got a plan, lets see it. He doesn't have to win a flag this year, he probably only needs to make the eight but with a more cohesive team that competes better with teams late in the year.

The environment and list is much better than when Ratts took the job, so I don't want to hear sooking from MM apologists for the next two years.

He has to find a way.

The only trade week difference between journalists and forum posters is that journos use their real names.

Both are, in the main, totally @#$%&! clueless.

I can see what excuses you'll be trotting out for the next 2 years .

If we need cash Scotland retires...simple. Good servant but he will deteriorate from here out. Finish on a high.
Look at putting carazzo on table. We don't need he, McLean, Curnow, Cachia & Ellard all on the list....2 can go. They are similar.

Cimm, I agree that he shouldn't have a free pass, as such, but I don't think there's much he could have done with the list, until now.

Perhaps some clubs will take the likes of Lucas and Bootsma off our hands, but it hardly appears our door is being beaten down. How would it have been different last year? It's not as simple as saying 'trade!' to get things happening. We've drafted poorly, developed just as poorly - why should we be surprised that it's difficult to entice other clubs with below average quality?

A significant amount of deadwood has been stripped already, and clearly Mick would like even more to be moved on.

As far as I am concerned, anything that happened from a list management perspective from 2013 onwards is on Mick. So giving Bootsma two years is on him. Giving the same to Watson is on him. Giving Rowe a year is on him.

To the degree that the salary cap isn't impacted by the deals for the players I just mentioned above, the cap constraints we have are also not of his doing. Obviously the club has overpaid mediocre talent for a sustained period of time.

Seems to me a lot of chickens are coming home to roost in a big way. You can't mismanage a football list to this extent for such a long period of time and not suffer real pain.

Trade for Longer and Docherty, package Kreuzer to GWS or Dees for early pick

Reading threads like this one or the sakc MM etc. reminds me more and more of this famous movie quote:

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

We would look at chaps not only as a player but for leadership and mental toughness when games need to be won.
The kinds of things Murphy and co don't have.
Footy is also about what's going on between the ears

Very true. But as I said, it will be hard to trade for quality for us when we don't want to sell the silver ware (i.e. first round pick, valuable players).

Again, the club made huge mistake not tanking it. Pick 6 and and Yarran could get us Boyd
We would be 6 places higher in the draft which would help us trade for players

I would have played Laidler, Duigan, Hampson and Lucas to drive up there trade value. Which was the plan until it was decided to go for a finals berth.

I know for 100% fact that they were gonna go down this path until the club was informed about the Essendon* situation 6 weeks before the sanctions were handed out.

No club will trade for Laidler or Lucas when they know they can use a late draft pick or the PSD to snare him. The same applies for bootsma

Have we improved our position?

Thomas is a risk that might pay off but losing Betts is huge. He is a genuine forward. Other than Waite, he is the only other player on our list who is a genuine forward.

Isn't that why we traded away the world for Judd? how has that worked.

My above quote fits well to your posts.
