Mentoring our players?
When did Chapman suddenly become Iron man? Its funny that the same posters complaining that Eddie, Yazz and Jeffrey cant play midfield are the same ones wanting to get a 32 year old half forward with dodgy hammys who's past it as a midfield option.

Lets be real here. Murphy averages more contested possessions, more tackles and more 1% ers than Chapman. Yet some of Murphys biggest critics are wanting to get Chappy.
Geelong aren't flicking him for fun. They understand he's taking the place of a young player. FFS, I'm sure some of you trawl around peoples nature strips looking through their hard rubbish.

Chapman for 1 or 2 years with the potential of an assistants role at the bullant

He could do this as an Assistant Coach.

And then he can be in hammy rehab without impacting either the team or his own performance.

We're already taking something of a risk on Thomas, so unless the aim is to recruit the best players possible to enable the development of our rehab and conditioning staff it's a big NO to Chapman from me.

Maybe he can implement some of the leading teams stuff he has been part of on the side :sly:

So, going by my records, those primary listed players remaining out of contract are:

McLean
Lucas
Ellard
White
McInnes
Duigan
Scotland

Someone posted on talking players that they heard that he signed a one year deal.

We need to stop thinking the Chapman's, Podsiadly's, Cross's etc. are good gets for us at this point!
We have a good mix of age and youth right now, what we need to do is keep trading/drafting young. Now is the time to build from the bottom up. Simmo, Juddy, Brock, Jamo, Waite, and even Scotto can lead the youth for now. We don't need others being talked about.

I'll add another "No" to Chapman.

I'm wouldn't be confident assuming Geelong have made a blunder cutting him given their list management the past decade or so, which I reckon has been the best in the comp. They know a lot more about where he's at than we do and he's a favourite son. If they've cut him then he's done.

I remember when white hurt his neck MM said he would be right for pre-season. McInnes isn't going anywhere surely. Same with Brock. How have ellard and Duigan not been cut yet, why do we reward mediocrity with spots on the list? If Lucas isn't traded he will be recontracted. We know Scotland is either retire or one more year.

The thing I would like to see more than anything is a plan. If we just keep trying to build the best list for the next season then I reckon we're going to stay around 7-10th forever.

When is the premiership window that we are aiming for? If we don't know then we should because it's not just going to "happen". If, for example, that window is between 2015-2017 then all recruiting and trading should be directed towards a list that peaks in this period.

If my example is not a realistic period fine, but when is it? For goodness sake Carlton choose a timeframe and work towards it.

I think the premiership window has just been demolished before it ever opened

Nah MIL, we just need a key forward and one more mid and we'll be right up there. Once the boys really embrace Mick, we'll be contenders again. Shame the Cloak deal last couldn't get across the line. Keep the faith :smoking:

..we've offloaded about 9 players or so.. ..am neither ya or nay for chappy, but at the same time.. ..do you think we're gonna bring in over a half dozen kids thru the draft..?.. .... ..if we had the cats up and coming youth on our books, we qwouldn't look at a player like chappy.. ..but, alas.. .we don't.. .... ..take a good long hard look at 'our kids'.... ..not many banging down the door.. ..we have shite depth.... ..a player 'like' chappy improves our overall list.. ..whether he takes away a spot from a 'kid', is up to the MC.. ..but if you think a player like chappy isn't worth place 40 on our list, tell me why..

Part of development is game time. Why are people wanting to bring in a chunky forward pocket with chronic hamstring problems when we could give that game time to others. He isn't a midfielder. He's not a development coach. You're not getting the 2013 Paul Chapman. You'd be getting a player that Malthouse wants to use as a sub, because he doesn't really know how to use the sub effectively.

Not what we need.
